hi ian,
from a confirmed N -er of (this Christmas) exactly 20 years standing, summer and winter): i don't think that 20 years ago, there were any more or fewer Brits going to Niederau, but the people RETURNING year after year is very high. i think there are some stats which relate to the percentage returning, and N scores very highly. the laws forbidding auslanders from purchasing land have relaxed in recent years, i believe, and many people i recall skiing with many years ago in N have gone on to buy land and to build. i started returning because it was/is an easy, and safe place to go to on one's own. a friend let me down all those years ago, and rather than lose my deposit too, i went alone as a complete beginner, and haven't looked back since. i returned to the UK on Jan 2nd 1989 and had re-booked for 6 weeks later within 24 hours. it's a very warm, welcoming place, and i've always felt safe there. have worked 2 whole seasons there as an instructor, and worked countless other individual weeks, teaching the children to ski. Come and try it! L. |

DAVE MAC,
will i lose all credibility if i tell all that when i've finished dancing ON the table, i tend to slip UNDERNEATH it,and that this is especially the case if i'm at (oooh, er, here goes): the CAVE? L. |

DAVE MAC,
i'll PM you phil's website in niederau. am not sure i'm allowed to give it out in the public forum, unless mr admin says so, and unless phil agrees? it looks as tho' he is not doing ski hire. L. |

JAN: it's me who has the predilection for dancing on the tables. i shall be there for lunch with my Welsh clogs. blod can play the harp and chirrup at the same time.
cwagner: there are lots of excellent pensions in niederau which can offer you a high standard of accom and breakfast for those dates, because it's the week before UK half term. am just taking doggie for walkies, and when i get back i'll PM you the tel no and website of the quite excellent tourist office. speak to angie or to nicky there. Dave Mac,
No, I don't think that Phil at the old bank is doing ski hire. (I'll text him and ask). I always call Eric at Margreiters and ask him to put away a pair of good skis for rental for me, and he always gives me a whopper of a discount. This time, I'm driving down with Blodyn, and will be bringing my skis with me. I'll take them to Eric to be waxed etc, but I am also on the system at Blackfelders, since buying a pair of ski trousers for £100 a few years ago in ther shop at the Austria, after which Katrina at Blackfelders has also given me discount!(And a Christmas card every year!) Karen: at half term, as Dave Mac says, the head of Schischule Wildschoenau, Sepp, will approach trusted past instructors and they will work for the busy week to the same high standard as his usual, season-long instructors. In fact, if I can only get a cheap flight at Feb half term, (Feb 14th), I'll be one of those instructors, but I work only with the (British) children. (busman's holiday!) L. |

my lancome powder puff AND my Reusch ski mittens, which are shot to pieces. Does anyone know where i can buy these FAB gloves (minus 15 inners, fingers, and a leather mitten outside). I bought mine for about (at the time) £35 from the skischool in Niederau in 1990/91 and they've never been able to buy them in since. L.
