Have you tried him without goggles? I wear glasses and never wear goggles as I do not need them, I might be wrong, usually am, but unless you go incredibly fast, or if it is very windy or you do night skiing then he shouldn't need them, although he would need sun glasses. I have these that change from dark to light

Edited for errors
Ski Boot Help

Is this the best forum to post in?

I bought some new salomon ellipse 8.0 ski boots three years ago, like these in the shop they were fine. However after a short period of sking the right one starts to hurt as if to small at the front of the ankle - looking this site I think it is the peroneus tertiu that hurts

So can anything be done, I was thinking of a longer buckle or moving the buckle right to the edge

How much does it cost to heat up the boot to make more room for the foot anyone know?

Going to Italy this Sunday, well maybe.

Booked through a company called Bookable Holidays, the guy who took my booking seemed to have difficulty with names and there was a lot of confusion between use.

Sent a email a couple days later with passport details with correct spellings

Got a Visa bill, so they managed to get money from the credit card company

Got ticket Wednesday and found the initial was wrong, emailed which they ignored, emailed yesterday which they ignored, phoned them today, its going to cost £80 to change

Complained to the tour operator who got the bill reduced to £30, which under protest agreed to

But to date we have not had contact with the Bookables

Any advice anyone?

Anyone know what would happen if we just turn up at the airport?

corrasello wrote:You guys must use even more money grabbing b*****ds banking companies than me as I can assure you of my previous posts.I use a Halifax card cash visa electron, the same one that Ryanair dont charge for using and the very reason(the only reason)I opened this account for.You dont get charged for using an ATM at home and its the same abroad, apart from the handling fee of £1.50.I suggest you get one before your next trip.

From Halifax web site

"Buying goods and services in a foreign currency

When you use your debit card abroad to pay for goods or services, or to withdraw cash at cash machines, the exchange rate we use will be the Visa Reference Exchange Rate. We will charge a conversion fee of 2.75% of the amount of the transaction and a fee of £1.50 for each payment."

I have a Halifax Electron and a NatWest Visa Debit card both of which feature in the top 5 Martin Lewis card from hell list :(

Wow I'm sorry to hear that, but there is no way I would have sat around not skiing for four days, in fact I wouldn't have missed a day. I arrived in resort at 1.30pm, had something to eat and found out where there was a good boot fitter...Got the bus to the next village and had new boots by 6.30pm. :D

Yes, I know, but it was all my ski stuff, from hat to skis. I looked at buying and renting but it meant spending over a hundred pounds on tings like gloves and goggles plus renting boots and skis.

Plus you kind of believe your rep

so can you take ski boots on as hand luggage as i am flying out to salzberg end of feb(normally drive)

You may not be allowed to take ski boot on as hand luggage, i have been in a situation when I had to go back and send my hand luggage into the boot.

A few years ago while coming home with a gf she took her high heeled shoes off and was told she could not carry her shoes on board the plane and had to either send them to the hold or put them on

Pablo Escobar wrote:Some of my best skiing ever last year was in Sainte Foy. Stayed at the Whiteroom Chalet (www.whiteroomchalet.com) and did the whole week from Edinburgh for £600 including all food and drink. Flew Jet2. Worth looking at Inghams deals as well, they have some obscenely cheap offers floating about.

Problem with these cheap deals is you put the details in for two people and you get cheap result, HB apartment, lift on the door step. Then you try and book and the deal is based not on two sharing but 20

Go end of March DIY.

Luck y you

I want to Pamporovo last year my ski things went to Germany

Don't worry the rep kept telling use we will have your skis things tomorrow and that is what they told me for 4 days. So I did not buy or rent replacement after all my luggage has to be missing for 24 hours and if I rent/buy the insurance company would pay out I think it was £50 per 24 hours.

On the 5 day the luggage arrived in the afternoon

ON my return claimed insurance, oh no said the insurance company you did not hire or buy replacements, so claimed from the travel company, oh no they said, you can not have compensation for your ruined ski holiday, you did not claim within 28 days
