YOu'll have more luck searching for hotels in Andalo...access is to the same mountain. Try Venere.com and also paganella.net Once you book a hotel, your hotel should be able to help with the tranfer, but most likely a bus to training station, traint to Trento and bus from there. Closest major airport is Verona.

Folgarida and Folgaria are two different resorts. FolgariDa, as noted above, is linked with Madonna. Folgaria is a about an hour and a half drive to the south and east towards Rovereto...a medium sized resort and nothing much over 2000 mtrs. The snow there has been poor but they have enough to keep all runs open and groomed. Not sure how to get there on public transpo, however. I suggest tripadvisor.com and there are experts there on that sort of thing. Madonna is beautiful and expensive. I am tryin got talk my ski buddy into going to Tonale this Saturday. What Ian W forgets to mention above is Tonale has two long lifts up either side of the town and glacier skiing. also, the resort is linked now to Ponte di Legno which is bigger. Both areas are pretty snow sure as well.

I'm in Vicenza. Last ski fo rme was 13 Jan, Paganella, two days after a snow of about 6 cm, which did good to cover up the ice. I've been waiting for a dump to go again, but keep waiting....and waiting. I had friends go to San Martino di Catrozza this past Saturday...lots of ice, freeze/thaw conditions. Last snow there was a slight dusting in Mid January. The snow park was well maintained but pretty bleak overall. It has to turn around soon! Dolomites are a great area for a ski trip, just not a good year for snow. Check out: dolomitisuperski.com

This winter sucks eggs around here (Dolomites). Worst year since 06/07. No good dump since christmas. I'm driving distance and it hasn't been worth a day trip....streams of High pressure after high pressure from mid-atlantic. Long range models are bleak, but here's to hoping the cycle changes soon.

I have found better snow on the east side (flatter and more boarders) of the main road, and steeper runs on the west. As mentioned, stunning scenery. A day trip from Milao, so it will be more crowded on weekends, obviously.

Train and bus stations easily accessible in Venice. check with a tourist office or hotel staff on the best route of transportation. Sella ronda area great (Arabba, Corvara etc) but can be a little tricky to get to. I recommend Cortina d'Ampezzo. Warning though, snowfall has been short and most resorts have been seeing rain, even above 2000 meters. Venice in Feb must mean Canival. Have fun!

I'm able to do a weekend trip by car to southern central Tyrol and am going to wait for a dump to go powder hunting. I don't care for terrain parks. Any recommendations for finding untracked powder, without death-defying, back country, guide-only, crevasse-laden, avalanche danger-zones? I've had good luck at Stubai, but want to go somewhere else.....Ischgl, Solden, Mayerhofen/Hintertux, seem the most popular/logical but maybe somewhere more off the beaten path. Thanx-
