My Dad flew in the Vulcan, then later worked as an engineer at AVRO, making parts for the Vulcan.

Are you sure you're not getting confused with the Tiger Moth?

Cheeky beggar

Ellistine were you one of the 900 boats that came to Bournemouth to watch the airshow. Never seen so many boats in my life.

Our boat never leaves Portland Harbor let alone making it to Bournemouth! We did think about coming up for that Firework World Record attempt. I hear it didn't go quite as planned?

Yes the fireworks were a shambles but I believe they did okay on the Sat night, goodness knows how much that cost, glad I am not in that Council Tax area. Really - I am very fond of the Queen, and some of the younger ones aren't too bad either, including Prince Charles (although I know he isn't that young any more).

We did get rid of our king once, a very long time ago, if you remember your history lessons, and then we decided to have one back again.

Ally

You have your opinion and your welcome to it, for me they are a bunch of spongers and all they are good for is continuing the disgusting class system we have in this country but I will conceed one benefit, when the queen pops her clogs we will all get a day off work, hopefully in the not too distant future.

Not if your new job entails getting a Pharmacy, classed as essential services you wont get the day off. On another subject does every-one know that boxing day this year falls on a Saturday not classed as a bank holiday this year you will have to wait until the Monday to have your boxing day off

I dont like the fact they ruin your house and make everything smell. Something cats dont do.
I dont however dislike dogs as much as horses. Those things are vile and are only good for making glue. Why do people insist on riding them on the roads????

Well my furry pile of cr*p brought a baby bird in to day, that was pretty smelly....

We dont have any pets at the moment but next doors cat is madly in love with my Hubby, spends all his time with him. The other night there was a commotion outside the patio doors, next doors cat with a frog. Hubby shot out and was jumping all around the patio trying to rescue the frog.....it looked hilarious. Would have been far easier just to pick the cat up.

How did you know it was "he", Rose?

The older one is a she, the best dog in our group, and has been just so easy to train. I took her to the Edinburgh Festival on Friday, went round the National Gallery. Set her down, dropped the lead, and went walkabout round the gallery, and she never moved.

The young one is just a bundle of fun.

Never thought of Golden Retrievers for guide dogs, always tend to think of labradors.
Many, many years ago I was a housekeeper for a Lord and Lady and lived in a flat at the top of their country pad. They only used the place at weekends so I looked after their golden retriever during the week. He was such a good dog, used mainly as a gun dog for their shooting parties. On the basis that he was so good a friend had a distant relative of the dog, he turned out to be a monster, had to go to doggy school to learn to behave, improved a bit but was always a nightmare.
