Camped in the Ardeche region of France a few years, took all the associated stuff which was fine. We had a great time, but one thing I really remember is DUST! Everywhere, because it was so dry.
Fun though. Did that for week then drove to the Alps and stayed in La Clusaz for a week in a chalet. Wonderful - and they have a summer luge.
Did the train ride up to the Mer de Glace in Cham but the Aiguille du midi cable car was closed due to high winds.

Good times.
Skiing is my 1st love - but as it's obviously not something I can do all the time (or even once this season) :( I do a lot of horse riding.

Sometimes when I'm out in the forest and can see the pine trees stretched ahead of me looking beautiful with frost on I try to imagine I'm in a ski resort about to catch the 1st lift of the day. (I have a good imagination!!)

I've ridden all my life and it's great fun, but nothing that I've found beats skiing for me. The snow and mountains just make me :D :D :D :D :D

I was thinking, you must be a lot younger than me, to be out drinking until 2-30 a.m. and then get up at 8-30 for a ski lesson :D

At my age, I find it very difficult to keep my eyes open after about 10 p.m. when I'm on a ski holiday.

...or any night for me......zzzzzz. Goodnight.

Sm4sh, pleased you had a good time. What was the food, hotel like?
Came across this site earlier today.
Hope someone else finds it useful.

I've put in the link for France - but it lists ski resorts all around the world.

I was sent an email today with the following link -

I haven't used any of these deals before so can't actually vouch for them - but might be worth a look for anyone hoping for a late deal.

Beware Backpacks and Chairlifts!!!

Horrible incident involving a British school pupil last week whose rucksack became entangled and was left dangling by the neck from the chair.

Yep, rucksacks can be very dangerous. Daughter got hers caught between slats on old wooden chairlift in Les Carroz a few years ago. She was being dragged - it was horrible.
We ran to help her, the liftee stopped the lift and the metal barrier came down right on my head!!!
And, no, I wasn't wearing a helmet!
2 incidents for the price of one. Learnt a lesson though
Especially beware rucksacks with the thumb loops you can use to tighten the straps - that's what got caught with ours.
