Anybody skied the Harakiri in Mayrhofen?
Started by User in Austria, 16 Replies
We did it at 10:30am on the first day of our holiday! We had just travelled over it on the chair and the conditions looked good having snowed the day before.

It was a kind of 'now or never' so off we went

It was our first black run ever. If you're gonna do one then you may as well make it a good'n!

The days following however you could see that it was deteriating fast and a lot of people were struggling on it. It was only closed for one day when a TV camera crew were filming a race between a cross-country skier and a moutaing biker climbing up the slope!!!

We had a great week in Mayrhofen with Tony "the bent pole" H and his good lady, plus a day or two with Skidaddle. Brilliant laugh, especially the off-piste skiing. That reminds me, I must post a thread on 'How do you turn on deep snow?'
Snowboarding lessons - bad experience
Started by User in Snowboarding, 24 Replies
From what I've seen of the boarding lessons at our local dryslope, the holding hands stage doesn't last very long at all until they are sliding their way down the hill on their own.

I would get some lessons over here to get that stage out of the way to make it easier to progress on your own should you have to.

Cosy, but I've done two man chairs. It's the one man chair that's getting me excited

If he's a propper man then the novelty will wear off soon so you won't have to worry about it anyway :P

Cool! I've always wanted a ride on a one man chair lift!

Is there one in Mayrhofen? I thought I say one on a Youtube vid that was supposed to have been filmed in Mayrhofen.
Pants for snowsports and cycling?

iplanet77, I will quite often wear my Ron Hills bikesters under my ski pants when skiing in all but the warmest of conditions. I think you would struggle to stay warm on snow with just a waterproof/windproof layer. The other problem you might face is that the bottom of ski pants are quite large to accomodate the ski boot and would require a pretty impressive trouser clip to stop them getting caught in your bike chain!
