We always used to put a pole across the front of our kids bodies to wedge them in a bit and do the same if we have to take any with us even though they don't really like it it does give me peace of mind.

Me too.. wear one, don't wear one...everyone can read the facts for themselves and make their own minds up. It's all down to personal choice. :D |

I've done a few short breaks - to Samoens (France) and Foppolo (Italy) and both DIY and very successful, but the most memorable by far was to Alagna in Italy.
we stayed here - http://www.alagna.co.uk/10--lode-3.html It was the most stunning place to stay, the atmosphere was amazing, we could watch the snow falling as we lay in our beds. We flew to Milan, Malpensa (probably Easy Jet) and hired cars. Restaurants in Alagna lovely and skiing great. Dids |

I've been to Claviere and I think it might turn out to be a bit limited for you. It's quite a ski on to main part of the Milky Way and some of our group decided to get a mini bus to Sestriere (on the advice of local knowledge) rather than spend ages skiing over and worrying about getting back.
This was before the Olympics though so access might be easier now. What's the hotel you are looking at? We stayed in the Passero Pellegrino - it was a nice place. The village was pleasant, the skiing enjoyable, but a couple of chaps in our group had skied at after the 1st day so bought an extension to Montgenevre. It may have changed now and be included on the same lift pass. As you like high mileage I'm not sure it's for you - I reckon you would prefer being in the heart of the Milky Way and not the edge. This of course is only my opinion!! |

A couple of seasons ago my nephew worked in Morzine and had an apartment that overlooked the bottom of a piste.
One evening he saw a couple of lovely young blondes standing at the bottom of the piste clearly waiting for someone. He was puzzled as to who they were waiting for until a piste basher pulled up, opened the door..let the girls in and took off up the mountain with them both in the cab with him! |
