Tony, what is the quoted bus cost, where to? How many in party? If a good few, is four seasons an answer?
You can also book coach travel with a tour company, although arrival times are an issue. |

Bluebird, I think you are right about the better early conditions in the Eastern Alps.
On my early response though, I wasn't sufficiently clear. The snow history is clear. Village level is virtually nothing, every year. It is the upper slopes that has a history of poor snow every second year. For me, that would be too bad odds. |

For the snow histoty, you might check out:
http://www.igluski.com/viewSnowHistory.cfm?rid=197&submitted=go&from=hist_page Looks pretty thin at village level, and has some decent snow every second year. You may find the pub pretty crowded. Or not. |

Hi,
Check out: - http://www.theaa.com/travelwatch/inc/planner_places_redirect.jsp If you planning your Niederau trip, suggest going to the above web site and plugging in your start european destination, and woergl as your end destination. Have done the Euro ports to Woergl by different routes, It always seemed to be about ten hours. Niederau is 7 km up the road fom Woergl. |

Well Pav, you are way off beam, although I certainly aspire to be a 70+ skier. It would be a much greater aspiration to meet Bandit's guess of being a 102+ skier ~ although I reiterate my meeting up with a 90+ skier in Niederau. He could still ski quite well, but wasn't sure of his own name.
Not too many clues, but there is one Beatles song that I won't be able to sing for too many seasons. I confess to having these flash forwards with my OH..... "Was thinking of heading off to Niederau in a couple of weeks dear." "Really Dave? But you just came back last week" "Did I really dear? Did I have a good time?" If we can knees and hips together, and make a smooth transition into the above state of mind.... |

A few thoughts:
It isn't clear if Mayrhofen is the only place that you have been. It is good to try other places. We all get fixed on a "place to go". If you like Austria, there are other interesting places to go, particularly in your time scale. If you have easy access to Innsbruck, there are heaps of good locations available. Early March has the advantages of good snow, and minimal crowding. I always start a group organisation by listing the criteria. This includes abilities, skiing needs(classes, ski hire, ski in/ski out, grades of slopes, etc), social needs, (night clubs, quiet locations, stubles with character and history, children's requirements) I would never put the lift pass price forward as the hurdle. The main cost criteria is the bottom line. Yes, there is a tendency towards crazy. But we are all skiers, and crazy is only a question of degree. |
