Most stunning ~ equal Arapahoe Basin, USA, and Zermatt, but A-Basin might edge it for sheer raw challenge
Most character ~ Niederau, Austria Most pleasant ~ Vail, USA Best Groomed ~ Keystone, USA Unexpectedly good ~ Borovets, Bulgaria Slightly Unusual ~ Saas Grund, Switzerland (touch the Gacier wall as you ski) Great Skiing/Worst Weather ~ Whistler, Canada Best Alpine Buildings ~ Niederau and Alpach, Austria Child-Friendly ~ La Thuile, Italy Feels good ~ Perisher Valley, Australia Nice days out ~ Schi Welt, Soell, Ellmau, Austria Most Expensive, ~ all the French resorts that I have skiied |

Man, after reading all that lot, I feel really underdressed. Have very little branded stuff, only 3/4 days clothes, Raichle rear entry boots, painting gear. Lift pass Swatch.
Skis reside in Niederau |

Nae chance. You can't ski to your door. You can't even ski to the village.(Well maybe, very occasionally) I think you are a troublemaker Caron, and you are out to cause bother between me and Tony-H, and his friends. Don't rise to it guys, I do understand that you have your reasons for being Mayrhofeners. Just about every resort in the world has it's followers, for whom there is no known anti-dote. But there ain't nowhere like Niederau. I just arrived back from there today, after a wonderful week alpine walking. Sehr shoen. |

Trencher, this is a searching suggestion, but I confess not many miles from the truth. I did part own a Morris Oxford, same style. It died on the M1, when the big ends went. My mate Pete, (he who introduced me to Niederau), lectured me about putting ordinary oil into the engine, when I clearly ought, he said, to have used tractor oil.
Early days, I drove with Pete to Niederau in an old Victor 101. The starter motor packed up on the way back, and Herbert Thaler, the famous Bichlwirt harpist, helped to push the said car onto the Calais~Dover ferry. Pete and I started the Trans-Pennine Ski Club, running ski trips from Manchester to Cairngorm. (Also. later Leeds to Cairngorm) A 13 hour overnight coach trip on Friday night. Ski all day Saturday. Have fun on Saturday night. Ski all Sunday. Drive overnight back to Manchester Monday, arriving 7.00am. Straight to work. Many marriages were initiated on these ski trips, together with some that ermm, they just practised. |
