It's all gone rather quiet......

Yes, been there loads of times. Some people don't love it as much as I do. But for easy rail access and some wild adventurous skiing, I find it hard to beat for a short trip.

At the airport after my sneaky trip to Engelberg; excellent four days skiing although weather varied with some rain in town and heavy snow up top and one day of glorious weather, Loads of snow still, and the resort is aiming to operate as many lifts as it can until May 26! The Brunni and Gerschnialp areas are closed now, but they are predominantly beginner areas so the best of the resort was still open.

The biggest plus points were no queues anywhere and largely deserted pistes - a fantastic combination with good snow!

What a great way to end the season!
All skis are much the same

Interesting discussion and I would suggest that to say all skis are much the same is way off mark. I've owned seven or eight pairs of skis over the many years I've been skiing and each has had a major technological advance and improved performance over its predecessor. To say my current Rossis are no different from my 203cm Dynastar GS skis would not be true. That's not to say they can't be skied on well, but modern skis are so much easier, efficient and enjoyable - I would expect the next generation to be even easier, more efficient and even more enjoyable still!

Many a fine tune played on an old fiddle.
Obergurgl March 2013

I was disappointed with Obergurgl - skied it out in the two days I visited. The standard of piste marking was dreadful and downright dangerous on an afternoon of very poor visibility.
Reberty for three days! What to do?

Good move...Les Menuires is all ski-to-door and no long, long gondola to and from Meribel each day.

La Masse is the best area in the Three Vallees and the best access to it is from Les Menuires. Some long cruising reds and a couple of blacks that are fun but not frighteningly steep.

I'd take my own skis - time saved in not messing about in the hire shop and having to return them etc!
