Rucsac goes in as checked baggage. If there is no clear policy on boots as hand baggage, I don't want the hassle of repacking. There is no advantage as yet, since I have not managed to get two weeks ski gear into hand bagge size.

Easyjet don't seem to have a weight limit for hand baggage.

Tony, what a star! I am unable to get broadband, so will take about an hour to download, but am enjoying watching the three second bits.

Fill the boots with socks, and put them at the bottom of my rucsac.
We should all always wax our skis at the end of the season prior to putting them away, making sure the wax runs over the edges. Result, no rust, no white base.

During the season I will get the edges sharpened about every three/four weeks, less if snow is great, more if on a hard piste, and stony. Normally wax twice a week, should be every day really. Towards the season end, on soft snow, every day, and rub on twice a day, particularly on the tails.

You might pay 20/22 Euros for a sharpen and wax. It pays to get to know the technician, and sometimes the price falls. 10 Euros if you get really pally.
Good beginners resort in Europe

I had this same issue, looking for an Austrian resort for mixed ability.Sallbach or Hinterglemm looked strong. Both have blues down the mountain, in addition to beginners slopes. I ackowledge Tony_H's comments that he thought the mountain blues were a bit reddish in places.

Couldn't get a New Year trip booked there.

So we're going to Niederau.
Gas under $3/gallon :) :) :)

Expanding the cost issue into Europe, last time I drove out to Austria, 2006, there was an inverse ratio between the miles travelled from the UK, and the cost of petrol. Every country passed through had cheaper prices. Austria cost around 75% of UK price.

That was not true last season, where the cost was at parity with the UK.

Diesel does remain cheaper, but the gap has narrowed.

Recall on our 1997 trip to Breckenridge, gas was around 1$/gall. US gallon is smaller than UK Gallon.

Keep your eye on him Caron, and on Grace too.

The only criticism he gets from instructors is that his legs are too close together, looks good though!

Och, what do these modern instructors know? :)
