I think that's a fair summary of what happens - as I lose confidence I have a tendency to wedge and then snap myself out of it by "having a word" with myself! |

I feel for you!
However as I'm an IT geezer working in an IT consultancy firm we don't bother with filtering as we all know too many ways round them! 8) |

Trencher will have a better take on this and I'd be interested to here his views but:
When we skiied in Vermont a few years ago the Americans we shared lifts with were not keen on putting the bar down - they reckoned that getting stuck in there was far more of a hazard than falling off  is this an indictment on Killington's lift system or true of the skiing population in the US in general? tragic news about the child though - I pray his family gets some good news for Christmas |

Biggest change you'll see is the covered magic carpet up the middle of town (its obvious on the webcam) which replaces the old drag lifts. There's also one up the "home" piste so you can get back to that part of town from lower down |

Detachable is the name given to newer lifts where the chair isn't permanently attached to the cable - it simply has a "grip" to it. When the chair comes into the station a "thingy" in the mechanism flips the cable grip open so that it slows down to next to nothing as it's only being moved by the pulleys in the station, no longer at the speed of the cable. All this means that loading and unloading is much safer as you have more time but conversely the lifts themselves are faster as the cable can be moved at faster speeds as you don't have the unloading speed factored in Simples If you're an anorak like me then you may find this article fascinating: http://www.answers.com/topic/detachable-chairlift If you're not then you'll point and laugh at the Geordie idiot who has a sad life looking at ski lift technology as a way of getting thrills ahead of his actual trip....... All of this however may well be moot as there's a reasonable chance you'll not get as far as chair lifts with a 3 year old in your first week! But I do like the squirrel stories - keep 'em coming (said Esther Rantzen.....) |

I bought new boots 2 years ago and spent 4 hours with the boot fitter so I hope its not boots (though I'm willing to accept it could be)
Should I go see a different fitter - maybe in resort? |
