It's not very often that you see a snowboarder pulling purely carved turns. Certainly makes the line closer to that of skiers.

We heared about this when we arrived;
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/worldnews.html?in_article_id=512170&in_page_id=1811 A man (father of two) decided to take the orange padding from around a post, drag it up the hill and then slide down the slope on it. He ended up hitting the same post and killing himself. Not a lot needs to be said about this really. |

Deffinately no cannons running which we too thought was odd. Day temps were about 3 degrees (the previous week they reckoned they were hitting 16 degrees!) but it would have been cold enough at night. You sort of get the impression they're trying to save their euros where ever they could. We did see one being hit with an italian screwdriver though so they must be thinking about it.

Got back yesterday from Sauze. They had a big dump of snow on Monday which provided us with a good week of skiing. The sun was out every day after and for three days we didn't see a single cloud.
The skiing in the morning was great on the freshly groomed pistes but by late afternoon the main pistes would become quite slick. One of the best runs through the week (or at least the most fun) was the black mogul run 33 but even this by the end of the week was pretty devoid of mogules. When we left on Sunday you could still ski to the very bottom and I expect you will be able to for some time yet but it ain't exactly grippy! Fingures crossed for some more snow for Tony_H and Skiddadle. |

A friend of mine was skiing with us last week and he was on blades. He struggled on the first day in the heavy snow but was fine on them the next. He then tried regular skis and really struggled. Two days of private lessons later and he could still ski better on his blades than the normal skis.
Personaly I would persevere with the normal skis as I think after skiing on blades it will be harder to continue to improve on the normal skis. You really need the conditions to be right for blades so they could be a bit limiting. Think of it a bit like taking your driving test, but only for automatic gearboxes. It's easier in the short term but you'll have more scope if you crack it on the normal skis. |

Yep. They were discussing the size and firmness of it so she had a little squeeze! |

More fast ladies in Lycra;
http://www.flickr.com/photos/keith_ellis2/sets/72157603887589416/ I'm taking the photo! That's Kim my other half with the pink (unbelievably expensive) Eisbar ears and my mate Howard. The race was on the Olympic Mens Course (Banchetta). We skiid the Womens Olympic Course, which Chemmy thought was more difficult, and you're right, some of the steep bits you know full well they wouldn't have touched but would have flown staight over. |
