car hire at Geneva Airport
Started by User in Switzerland, 5 Replies
I need to hire 2 two cars or a large people carrier / minibus from Geneva Airport for UK Feb half term week. There are 7 of us (4 adults and 3 children)+ loads of luggage (3 pairs of ski's). We can not hire a private tranfer bus as Geneva is not the nearest airport to the resort we are going to. I was wondering which hire company to use, any reccommdations would be most helpful.
I have been wearing Lange Boots for a few years now and I am very pleased with them. As other people have mentioned go to an expert boot fitter and see what boots they reccomend for your wife. The fit of the boot and ability range they are meant for (plus price) are more important than the brand name.
France this year

I havent been to La Plagne but my family and me drove to Les Gets two years ago in Feb half time to save money. There were 10 of us (including a two year old) in 3 cars. We did the journey in two days and stayed in a hotel overnight. We also stopped every few hours for breaks. You could do it in one go if you had two drivers. We would certainly would consider driving again as its much better than waiting around for hours in airports etc. This year we are flying and going to Oz en Oisans as it worked out cheaper than driving but it does not always. Each car had a GPS electrionic map device which made it easiler to go there without getting lost. You will need snow chains and make sure you pratice putting them on especially in cold weather. We had to use ours to get out the resort to come home.

Can anyone give me any information about Oz en Oisans. There are 7 of us booked to go in Feb half term week (16th till 23rd) and staying in the Chalet des Neiges apartments. We are a mixed ability group and of different ages. Four adults and three children (youngest 4) hence going in half term week. The idea at the moment is for the more experience dads to have the full area pass while the rest of us have the local pass. My sister-in-law lacks confidence and will need nice gentle runs. Her children (12 and 9 year old boys) can ski blue and easy reds but usually only ski for half a day. My daughter who is 4 will go into ski school for the first time, which will allow me to ski for a few hours each day on runs close by.
We are flying to Geneva (flight times were better eventhough its further away) and then probably hiring two cars. For the last 2 years we have been going to Les Gets (but mainly go to Austria and Italy) but wanted to try somewhere different and higher up because of the snow situation last year.
