Our two and four year old grandsons will be joining us in Niederau. The four year old was first on skis at 19 months, although was just playing on them.
Fritz Stroebl told me that young ones should be 4 years old before they start on skis, but the locals here have children of 2/3 on skis. Because we goes a family group, we take it in turns to have the wee ones on skis/sledges, having fun. |

I am just about to conclude with MPI. The main reasons for choosing them:
1) They have covered a series of medical issues, without addition to the premium, or excess. (Be certain to declare any medical issues you may have had in the past year). 2) They cover off piste skiing, and do not require the presence of a qualified guide or instructor. 3) The annual multi-trip policy, including winter sports covers up to 31 days per trip. The normal maximum is 17 days, and in many years this is insufficient for us. They also offer cover for seasonaires. 4) The cost was reasonable. Having said that, it is much more important to get a policy that meets the needs. 5) The owner is a keen and regular skier, and when you speak to the people, the discussions seems geared to common sense. |

Indeed. The term "Global warming" stuck around for some 10 years, until it was noticed that, errm, there was no global warming. So the terminology changed conveniently to "climate change". Yes, well, except that "climate change" has existed since prior to the dinosaurs. CC has always been with us. It will always be with us. Hence there is little use in trying to make a point about CC, unless one is trying to imply a cause of CC. |

So glad you enjoyed Niederau, Marie, it is my second home. I have spent over 200 weeks there.
Given your condition, and the snow conditions, Auffach was probably a good bet. In normal years, the two top runs above Niederau are great. Regarding your son, have you thought about approaching Disability Snowsport? They are used to dealing with all types of medical conditions. Niederau is one of their main centres, and I am fortunate enough that my two January weeks coincide with theirs ~ the last two weeks in January. I agree the Hannes is a good base, although it is many years since I stayed there. Before anyone asks, no, I have never skied just in underwear in Niederau on the several Boxing Days I have been there.... However, I will be skiing in a kilt on 18th January.... Do come back to Niederau, Marie, the village is built on people with your kind of enthusiasm. And should your MS get worse, then DS can provide a solution. |

Canadian Skier, in many European countries, winter tyres are mandatory, it is illegal to drive without them between October 31st and March 31st.
Also, in certain conditions, the police may turn you back, should you not have chains. |

Thanks Andy.
I usually subcontract the Snow Dancing to younger folk, but they just weren't cutting it this season..... Where are the proper snow dancers when you need them???? |
