10,000 ways down the same run Dave? You could write a book... ...but one of your pictures would be better I think.

Welcome to J2ski Mr/Mrs Ntip!

How about this one - Hotel Platzl, Auffach (ignore the address that says Alpbach... it is actually in Auffach!). Says it's 120 metres from the cablecar... 8)

Hey Jobster! Good to see you back, but sorry to hear your news - sadly not unfamiliar at the moment.

Ok... a "while" in the mountains? How long is a while?

I reckon you could negotiate self-catered accommodation at a very good rate if you're looking to book something for more than a couple of weeks, especially if you're prepared to live out of resort a bit (e.g. St.Jean de Sixt, or even Annecy - I know you like that area).

To make your Euros go further you could try Italy? They have fabulous snow at the moment - how about basing yourself in Aosta and doing the resorts in the valley? Or The Dolomites - beautiful mountains, great food, reasonable prices and loadsasnow?

Further afield, we hear (here, today!) that beer is €0.80 in Slovakia... just a thought... 8)

Just some ideas... you may not be happy (at the moment) but a while in the mountains ain't so bad...
For ten quid I'd go for the 9mm... having had crappy chains disintegrate in the past...

The design of both looks familiar and is quite common; the fitting is relatively straightforward.

As soon as you get them, have a practice run in the daylight.

Then wait until dark, park your car in the muddiest part of your garden and get your husband / children / neighbours to throw buckets of cold water, gravel and ice cubes at you until you've fitted them, driven 10 metres and removed them again... 8)

do ..you think we should do THE TUNNEL..

Seriously? No. It'll look much steeper when you're stood on it than it does in the videos - and there's no way out once you're in.

ADH is a massive ski area and you'll find plenty to enjoy without killing yourself and your children... which will make for a much better holiday all round. Really. 8)
Snow in Filzmoos

Hi Sasha... you're in the right place... Filzmoos Snow Conditions (125/55) and Filzmoos 7-Day Snow Forecast (looks like a dusting over the next couple of days, but staying cold so snow will keep well... 8)

Can I recommend Glenshee? I hear the tuition is self-assessed as rather good...

Back to the OP... the choice between Group or Private depends a lot on you as an individual; how you learn best and how much you get from the social side of a "group learning" environment.

Lynn - from what you've said (re. competitiveness) I'd think you'll progress fastest with private lessons (or a small group of very similar ability); particularly if the others in your group are not as technical / focussed on progressing.

I think it's more important to have a good instructor than to have the same instructor... but if you've found someone you really work well with, then obviously try to continue.
