You should try Alpe d`Huez. Its about 2 to 3 hours drive but I drove from Geneva last year and it not a bad drive. The resort is due to open on December 1st but was open at the weekend as there is plenty of snow.I was there last December and managed to ski every day even though most resorts had litle or no snow Alpe d`Huez was pretty good.
I liked it so much I`m going back again for a week on December 15th. :D
What ski`s to buy??

I decided that I could not wait any longer to own my own skis so bought myself a pair of new Atomic Izor 9:7 168cm.I bought them on american e bay for $299,which worked out really cheap because the dollar is so bad at the moment, even including fedex charges.

All I have to do now is to figure out how to mount the bindings??? :-)
Livigno...to ski or not to ski?

My first and third week sking were in Livigno and I really liked it.Its cheap to eat and drink as it is all tax free and the food is great, even in most of the mountain resturants.
It is perfect for beginner and intermediate level as there is plenty of blues and easy reds.Above that there is a few black runs but nothing that will test you too much.
Lots of good pubs and plenty to do at night.
Unless your are an advanced skier it is a really great resort. On my second holiday there was about 15 of us and we all really liked it.
Hope that helps.

I have just bought my first pair of skis on e bay an hour ago so should be skiing down my stairs by this time next week!!
Hey Ellistine,
I have to ask you do really find that you have become a better skiier from skiing on the dry slopes??
I have skied about 6 weeks on snow and was thinking of going to the dry slopes before my first week away this year (8 weeks 2 days and counting) :D
I have been on a dry slope a few years ago when I learned the first time but got bored really quickly.
Cheers Gar. :)
