There are positives and negatives about all resorts and ski areas. Grouping them by country is far too simplistic.
Size of ski area, altitude, direction the slopes face, efficiency of list system, snow record etc is all far more relevant than which country it happens to be in.
While there are some general characteristics which differentiate countries, you will be missing out on some great skiing if you choose your resort just based on those. Look at every resort and ski area with an open mind based on it's merits and you won't go too far wrong.

For 4000 euros I'd want a pylon or two as well!

Spotted this on the Courchevel site:
The colourful telecabins of Le Praz are due to be retired at the end of this winter after 43 years of loyal wobbly & cramped service.
The 77 various coloured bubbles of the Foret lift will be replaced with new telecabins next summer, as part of the seven year multi-million improvement plan for Courchevel.
As such the retired bubbles will be sold off, currently the future sale of the cabins has already attracted nearly 100 potential buyers. However the asking price of €4000 per cabin is said to have deterred a number of buyers already.

How much would you pay for a telecabine and what would you do with yours?

Oh well there's a surprise. As predicted. Hope all the British TOs follow suit.
Nearly, looks like the Mayrhofen bits were filmed the week after we were there, while the comedy festival was on.

Ian Wickham wrote:Never really fancied Val Thorens ..... I guess it is because it looks a tad like Avoriaz

On a 1-10 scale of ugliness where 1 is idilic and 10 is pig ugly, Val Thorens is about a 4. Avoriaz is a 12!

En suite is the norm these days, though some companies are a bit behind the rest.
