Dilema- boots or holiday?
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 13 Replies
I dont know where love has gone, in this troubled life desperation keeps us strong. Fridays child is full of soul, nothing left to lose there's everything to go.

but I digress also....

Do nothing. Put your pennies under your pillow, sprinkle some dreams on them every night. Book about 3 days in advance, something basic as it's the skiing that matters, go to the hire shop explain you want to buy boots and want to try a few and that when you decide tell him they are at end of season and you don't expect to pay rental for what you are about to purchase.

et voilà

In season there is a night bus that runs from Mayrhofen to Tux, stopping everywhere between every hour until the wee small ones for a Euro.

You are making me very interested indeed, sounds like a great weekend.

I did the Lauberhorn 3 times this morning and managed 6m41s on the third attempt which was the only one I timed.  I was brought to an abrupt standstill twice by ski schools (adults) snaking around just over a brow, and lost my front edge once resulting in a rather undignified slide. Reckon I could do it in under 6m given a good clear run at it. Puts the two and a half minutes the pros do it into perspective  I thought I was flying.

On Christmas Eve I did the bottom section a couple of times, on Christmas Day I did the top section and the Slalom corse at the bottom. Today I did the whole thing top to bottom at speed in beautiful conditions. I have never done a pisted run with such variety. Speedy red sections good for carving, frighteningly tight turns with very steep drops, jumps, a tunnel and some very tough camber. The most fun I have had on piste this season, or any other for that matter. Simply magnificent.

I have been smiling all day!!!

Wow!! You crazy fool!! I've watched the race at various locations including just by the combined downhill start gate. The jump there is insane. I'm surprised the course was open given that race day isn't too far away. Canadian Corner that follows is a very tight right hander with the camber throwing you down the hill.
Last year, I went up to the slalom start gate and got the heebie geebies just looking down the pitch.

Maybe one day if I keep practising I'll inch my way down it.

Are you going to the race this year?? I was thinking about it but reckon accomodation will be impossible.

Andy, the Benny Hill music on the second clip made me feel more Christmassy than 3 days in Gridelwald

Good job!!
