Buying Property
Started by User in Austria, 8 Replies
Locally, (N), it appears that in order to buy property, you must have residence. A fellow that I know has built a house, and put it in his son's name. His son is an Austrian resident.

I believe that there are ways to overcome the residency issue, through an Austrian solicitor.

Certainly, there are fewer Austrian self catering places than France, but I am pretty certain than Austrian S/C is on a par with most other countries.

My final point is that, (again locally), ownership and management seem to be unitary, ie owners do the management. This may not be the case in Kaprun. This might be a starting point. Perhaps, you might contact some Kaprun S/Cs and ask them.

I do offer this as "arms length info", since I would never buy a property abroad, and if I did, it would not be in Kaprun. Nor Niederau.

No sign of Amanda, but loud snooooring noises from that end of the village. Col neither.

Steady snow all day. But what a night in the Bichlwirt. Two local ladies, playing guitar and singing tirol songs, with passion and beautiful yodel melodies.

I did a bit of plucking, followed by a Dutch guy who picked up the guitar & did some stuff, then two old Irish guys waded in.

Scary lady was there, but I introduced her to the two Irish guys, and all is well in the world.

Oh, and the skiing is wonderful.

Amanda, if you land at 11.00am, assume get away by 12.00 noon, normal transfer about two hours, but this depends on the drop-offs. So arrive Schneeburger, 2.00/2.30 pm.

Lift pass, if you buy a pass at the lift office from Sunday for 6 days, it will be operable from 3.00pm Saturday. If you have pre-booked, I don't see why this should be any different. But then, you need to actually have the pass, and sometimes the reps want to deliver them at breakfast, or late afternoon.

Deal with him/her

Sounds like you will arrive in Niederau early, Amanda. remember, your lift pass, even if dated for Sunday, will be valid after 3.00pm Saturday.

Drovers Inn, now you are talking. Does it still have the stuffed bear in the hallway, with stuffing hanging out? The same guy wearing a greasy kilt, and a grunt for a welcome?

When I stayed there, with cracked washbasin and curled up lino, opened the bedroom door in the morning, and there was a peacock on the landing! I recommend to anyone.

Stuffed everything everywhere! Stuffed Golden Eagle on the bar, you do not see that every day! Didn't see greasy man in kilt, nice blonde waitress (suitably lengthed 'kilt')!

The stuffed Golden Eagle. That was on the menu when I stayed there! Waitress sounds to be an improvement on greasy man though.

Amanda, I could do your nails for you. I've got to wax my skis tomorrow night anyway, and it will probably be red. :-o

It's dumping snow here, (Thanks to Admin Dave for organising that). I'm waxing up the short skis. Been skiing today with Steve, my Blackburn ski-buddy. He's just a tad quick for me, so will be hitting the Ibruprofen soon.

My ski buddy Mel has just got permission to fly, so will arrive sometime over the weekend.
