Sorry....you are to be subjected to a lifetime of obsession :(

....and don't forget the obsessive watching of weather forecasts! If it's not snow depth, quality & freezing levels It's wind speed & direction
By the way - wasn't it Tony_H who looked like a scuba diver in his last avatar? |

Congratulations Ellistine on your new purchase - I'm sure you have found a worthy distraction to occupy you during the warmer months. I'm not sure how this discussion has evolved on a skiing forum - but please can I join in? We are off to North Norfolk this weekend to launch our Swift 18. She's not such a blast as your Vago - more like cruising on well groomed pistes rather than back country skiing in deep powder :?
When we are on a ski lift my husband always says 'Ready About'as we approach the final tower & we all say 'Lee-ho'as the bar is lifted. I'm sure there are numerous nautical terms that could be applied to skiing & vice-versa. I know I've capsized numerous times in both dinghies & on skis!! Do you plan to get into racing? If so, good luck with the rules! |

Hi Caron - glad the op. went well. I'm a physio assistant in orthopaedics & we currently have a couple of skiers doing really well with their rehab. following similar ops. If you stay focused I'm sure you'll do well. In fact, we always find that any patients who are passionate about their sport are the ones who do their exercises regularly & stay motivated. These things do take a while but keep looking at your holiday photos & checking out the ski websites & you'll have no problem in remembering why you are putting all the hard work in!
Good luck!! |

Tony H You'd best avoid Niederau next season - it looks like there could be lift queues

We've purchased snow chains in the past from a large high street retailer (Halfords) & left them in their packaging. As we didn't need to use them we took them back on our return & got a refund! :?
Have driven to Les Gets a few times, which isn't far from Samoens & it was very straightforward. Have recently been to Samoens but we got a minibus from Geneva & the roads all the way were totally clear. Equally, we've done Geneva to Chatel before in a minibus in heavy falling snow. Our driver didn't use chains but people were using them around the village the following day. Every day can be different I guess. As to whether or not you'll need snow chains.... if I could answer that, I'd have a much better paid job than I currently do & would be living in the Alps rather than visiting for 2 weeks a year!! (www.roofbox.co.uk have quite a lot of info. about chains & socks on their website). Enjoy Samoens. |

Hi mossballs - I've been to Les Gets lots of times. You should have a great time - particularly if you get some fresh snow either before you go or whilst you are there. If you pm me I'll send you a couple of photos to show you how nice it is! Have a great time )
