souldrive - good stuff :!::thumbup:
Yes - we must practice, then practice some more :!: When we all gather at Jan's place some day - he'll be proud of us :!: Are you going to make another spinning video Jan :?: Mike :wink: |

I gave spinning a feeble try yesterday - time was against me and the snow was too good not to just keep moving. I did have some success by the third try and with a bit more practice I can see it working.
Jan, I'm still looking at the skis and didn't stand straight enough:!: Hard to break some bad habits. But I did manage about 3 revolutions without stopping (completely). I tended to get around to 270 with the aid of leading with the shoulder and at that point it helped to lift the uphill ski off the snow to continue the revolution. Before utilizing the shoulder lead, 180 was the maximum normal distance of the "revolution". With more practice I can see this happening. :thumbup: Thanks for your help. :D Mike :wink: |

Rossfra8,
Glad it's going well for you. Some of the coldest temperatures can be where your are now! I take a look at the web cams now and then looking for a stylish and formful skier wearing a kilt; but I haven't seen you yet :!: You must give us a time and likely camera for a pose and a wave - then we all can be watching at the appointed time. Better hold up a sign with your name on it since it is probably too cold to wear the kilt :!: :shock: Yes, like Pavel suggests - watch out for the Alberta girls. For the really pretty ones visit NS on you way home. :thumbup: Good luck with the test - you'll do well :D Mike :wink: |

Boy, I sure am sorry for all the injuries out there. Aren't we supposed to try to be healthy in the winter and have all the accidents and joint operations in the early spring - so to be fit for the next winter?? Sometimes plans don't work out as they are supposed to.
Take the attitude of the young snowboarder I met on the chair last weekend. I asked if he was having fun. He said he was but, if he were to break something he would then have even more fun :!: :!: What can you do but go agree and along with a statement like this to see where it may be going :shock: Note, he was a snow boarder :!: I hope you all heal quickly. And be proactive like Pavel along the way in his recovery. Early after his surgery, he bought a season's pass, and when no one's watching he went for a short drive - to test his escape route; then he tried on his boots (when no one was watching) just to push the recovery a bit more :!: I fully expect to hear he has had his first run about 2 months earlier than expected by his doctors (but he knew better that this event would be sooner :!:). Get well quickly guys :!: Mike :wink: |

No, No Pavel... this is why I warned people before looking at the video. It was tramatic to see how anyone, skier or not, could destroy these skis. (And even a pair of boots. As you have told me once, old unsafe boots make good flower pots!)
I look at this for showing us why we must treat our skis with respect and loving kindness :lol:. I too thought they looked like flailing souls reaching out for help!!! Sad, very sad :oops: Also of concern is that one shredder manufacturer shows in the reference section of customers - "Atomic". Now if that isn't sacrilege, what is ?? :!: Perhaps we should write letters of complaint to Atomic. No, my posting this was not for entaintainment value at all - no way - it is a warning to be careful where you leave your skis as there are people out there who could treat them with this dis-respect and actually laugh at such action :cry:. Yes, a cruel world. :!: We have our work cut out for us :roll: Mike : :wink: |

I came upon this video while researching for a project and, despite being very tarmatic, I thought I would share it with you. Be warned, viewing this clip is not for the faint of heart. It shows us just how curel a place the world really is. :cry:

Thanks for the video Jan :!:
As you say, it looks like the pole had some action in the spin but I understand otherwise from your directions. It looks as though you are leading with your shoulder. Is this so? Also I can understand, now, how any edging will kill the motion. My wife and I have been closely studying your video and she too hopes to learn the spinning. A couple of more revolutions at the slower your speed might help give a clearer understanding. You don't need a great slope to get this working it seems. We're off to our local hill to learn this spinning "trick" next weekend. :-) Thanks to you and your cameraman:!:, Mike :wink: |
