Gor blimey - this thread could put you off skiing ! Has anyone got any (informed) advice on prevention ?
I can offer some opinions (but not really backed up by medical fact) - don't let your bindings be setup over-tight (in other words be very honest about your weight and ability)... I prefer to ski 0.5 DIN down from the suggested (is this wrong?) - stretch properly before and after skiing and particularly after lunch. - keep your legs warm (base layers)or stretch after that long cold chairlift - retire early to the bar |

I hope this isn't too off topic.. following on from the toenail debate. most of my toenail (bigtoe) is about to come off. Kept in place with elasroplast. Am off skiing on Sunday..should I remove the nail or try to keep it in place as long as poss ?? anyone got any experience of this ? FYI - It's a football injury and not from my ski boots.

Just a note to Verbier SB.. have you tried a volume reducer (in reality another , quite hard, footbed a few mm thick). It saved me from buying a new pair of boots / moving some clips when the inners had crushed down after a few weeks skiing...saved quite a few quid too

you've probably already been..and hope you had a great time, but this may be of use to others reading the thread
on subject of your list of possible resorts... les deux alpes... has good set of easier runs high up the mountain - so snow sure. runs down to the village are a bit trickier. Arc2000.. not much night life..good skiing at this end of les arcs for all levels. La Plagne.. probably better staying around the Plagne Bellecote / soleil end for lovely beginner pistes. Tignes - also a good choice although you'd get the best from it after a couple of weeks skiing. France is a bit pricey at the moment !! (eg at least E15 for a bolognaise - Val d'isere - Feb2010]. I've no experience of the other places. one little tip - the distance to ski school is probably more important than to the nearest lift [this very much so if you ski with youngsters] |

We have a similar idea...write our mobile (and resort address) on the lift passes... theres also the chance you might get it returned if lost (pass & child) |

I was in Les Arcs last Easter (early April)...fabulous time. Bit hardpack in the morning and slushy by mid afternoon..Even though it was Easter the queues were fairly tolerable ..I think the French had headed for the beaches.. lots of dutch/belgians about.. the run down to Villaroger was getting pretty worn but they managed to keep a strip of snow (3-4M wide) all the way down to the pub at the bottom |
