I've just driven down from Leeds to Essex and saw the 'star'.
I did wonder what it was. It is so bright. Now I know it's Venus - well impressed. |

Just before collapsing in bed, take 3 Nurofen Express tablets with a large glass of water.
You sleep all night and the tablets are still kicking in when you wake up - usually because you've only have 4 hours kip. I'm sure that a small overdose is safe enough - just don't get carried away. PS - this also help with the aches and pains in the legs after a full day on the slopes !!!!!! |

I've just returned from the Trois Vallies. Stayed in Les Menuires - which is right next to VT.
The snow condition is excellent - although it was a little windy last week and actually some of the top lifts were closed for a while. Ski school - reaaly depends on the instructor - but good luck and give it your best. Given you have a little experience you should pick it up soon enough. Beer and food can be expensive ie £9 for a bottle of Magners or £20 for Spagbol. But there are ways to avoid these costs. 1. Most bar offer a happy hour - but be careful, £2 off may still be too expensive. 2. Expensive looking bars/hotel may not be the most expensive at the bar!!! 3. Look at what other people are eating before ordering. Some of the portions are so big - they could feed two. Therefore order 1 meal and share it - half price food. Damn right you should be excited. I'm off to La Plagne in 8 weeks and getting excited again already. |

Yes - as I said - there are lots of reasons why Sterling is weak. But I bet Merv and Co can afford their lift passes with ease.
I'm going to check with my TO regarding the passes in advance next week. Damn good idea. |

There are a number of reasons why Sterling has fallen so sharply recently. So to turn that around, you need to look at those reasons...
We have seen the 'base rate' set by the Bank of England fall to 2%, the lowest for decades. So if anyone has the ear of the Mervin King, the Governor and the rest of the guys, and suggest that perhaps they raise rates several hundred basis points, Sterling will become more valuable. The cost of beer / food amnd lift passes will fall, in our terms... Then come April - they can drop it back down to 2%!!!!! Simple... Yes, I know there are loads of other issues that move currencies values, but I can't go much lower - can it?? |
