Has anyone experience of the ski schools in Flaine.
I;d prefer to avoid ESF. I'm looking for lessons for 3 kids (all 9 yrs old) 2 of them total beginners and the other has done 4 weeks skiing. Any comments more than welcome. Thanks |

About 7 weeks ago I booked an appt in Flaine for 6, with P&V.
Then a couple of days ago I recieved and email from they advertising new discounts. Feeling rather cheated I read the small print in the terms and conditions of the new offer. "this offer can not be applied to existing booking" NOT VERY HAPPY.   However I still called them, ready for a arguement/discussion about why I should be given the saving..... It took all of 2 seconds - they were quite happy to offer the lower price. Now - VERY HAPPY :D :D :D http://www.pv-holidays.com/skipricefall_ms Have a look..... May save a few cents. |

Happy hours last year meant a large Stella was 4 euro.
But bottles of Magners were 9!!!! Miss out Meribel for lunch - fansatic burgers but 20 euros. We did find a great 'kebab / burger' bar in Les M - close to the ski pass shop. You will have fun. |

I was there last year - with 6 other blokes.
The skiing was stop on. Access from anywhere in Les Menuires is good and there are a few good bars. Granted the visual appearance of the building could be better - but we went for the skking rather than that. There are two great runs down from Mont Vallon in the Meribel area of the piste map and also in the far right side too (past Val Thorens) I can remember the name of the resort. You'll have a blinding time... |

Sounds a good deal. What dates are you going / with who / and what accommodation. I could be interested. We do have our own gear - but not helmets - yet... |

I'm sick of the "blue runs" in Austria...............where to go for some gentle stuff in France?

Hi Mel C - I assume you're not one of the Spice Girls!!!!
Anyway - I can't comment of some of the resorts that you mentioned but I'd suggest La Plagne, before Avoriaz/Morzine for the type of skiing you want. There will always be areas that are steeper than you expect from the piste map. But La Plagne has more than enough 'gentle' piste to keep you happy. Avoriaz/Morzine is a great area too - but perhaps a little more testing. Avoriaz is close to Geneva, well within your transfer limit. I've flown into Grenoble 3 times to La Plagne and it nearer 3 hours - although 45 mins is going up the mountain - to the views help pass the time. Your post does make me laugh - I've skied so much in France, I now want to do Austria!!!! |

I know La Plagne well and I guess in all resorts you see groups in areas that a plainly beyond them.
Wether it's off piste / in the tree / directly under the lift / or the bumps. Just makes me laugh!!! I know you have to push yourself to improve. But not at the expense of safety. Taking a kid along there is pretty irresponsible. Unless he is little Bode Miller!!!!! |

Tony_H thanks for your comments.
This is exactly want I needed. I;m aware that you know M quite well and may need some further details sometime. I think you have to ski Aus / Swi in europe before you die..... |
