Just a point / question for new skis.
New ski's straight out of the 'wrapping' do they need to be waxed before they are broken in?? Or is the final stage of manufacture a waxing ready for the first piste??? PS - I think ebay have a dispute process, so if the seller doesn't sort out a replacement - contact ebay. |

I'm aware that over time the answer to this question is likely to change - new developments etc etc. But... I'm 6ft tall - 13.5 stone and am quite happy skiing in good control at a good speed on European Reds. For short spells I can really push myself and the skis. However - I'm not a fit as I could be and therefore ski well within myself. I'm looking to purchase a new pair of 'All mountain' skis - I'm looking at last years Atomic Nomad Blackeye's.
Am I right in think that 164cm would be easier to turn and generally give a more relaxed ride and 171cm would be more demanding?? This model are stiff than a lower model and therefore I feel would take my weight at 164cm. What's the collective opinion??? Thanks |

I'm looking for some suggestions. I'm a regular 'group' leader who arranges a 4 night trip for 5 or 6 men each season. We usually fly to Geneva with Easyjet and then transfer to one of the 'main' French resorts. We've done this for the past 6 years. However a change of country is now demanded.
Therefore - I'm looking for a resort in either Switerland / Austria / Italy - that is within reasonable distance from an Airport, high altitude, prefer ski in ski out accommodation. Accommodation would need to be flexible, as we would arrive on a Friday and return home on the following Tuesday. Any help????? |

Take care - making a claim on any insurance policy with information or details that are not 100% true is FRAUD. You could find yourself in real trouble. However, if a Dr says your unfit to travel, then I guess you're in business.
Just remember, if asked by a Dr " Does that hurt?? " Make sure you scream and hollar... They'll be sure to sign you off... Then personally I'd keep the cash and spank it next year in the US or Japan... |

I haven't stayed in thr actually property you mention here. But have used PV a number of times in the past.
Basic, simple, honest... Best description. Lets face it - you only need a place to lay your head and the rest of the time you should be out anyway. |

I guess the only real solution is to go high - go a little later than normal (ie March) and go to a large area.
I'm going to Avoriaz on the 14th March (lads trip) and then to La Plagne (with my 7 yr old son) on 5th April. Granted it will probably be a bit mushy after lunch in La Plagne, but my son will get a good lesson in the morning and I can get up high. Come the afternoon we'll ski together at about 2000m. Done the same last year and it was just right. |

I don't want to ruin my good fortune for the future - but I been on 12 ski trips, all in europe in the past 6 years and have not had poor snow conditions once.
The pistes have been super / the skys blue and a good time has been had by all. Jan / March - outside school hols and even early April. I'm considering 'selling' information about where and when I intend to go in the future. I feel I must be blessed with SO MUCH good futune that I'll always have good conditions. QUESTION - Would you be mad / stupid or even just desperate enough to pay £10 - to find out my dates of travel and intended resort - just to share my potential good luck?? Never know - could pay for the whole trip!!!!!!! What's a tenner ??? In return for super snow!!!! |

Try OFFPISTEMADNESS.COM (or CO.UK) they are based in Morzine, they offer by the night accommodation / breakfast and evening meal. They will also collect you from Geneva Airport. I think they charge £58 per person per night. That's not bad considering the airport transfer is include. And only an hour from the airport.
I'm off here on 14th March, with a party of 7. For 4 night too. The guy who runs it - Dougie, has been most helpful. We only confirmed numbers 3 weeks ago. Morzine has easy access to Avoriaz / Portes du Soliel - so the snow should be excellent and they are due more over the coming week. For a short break / long weekend - I doubt you could do better. |
