Railway station not train station!

That's a very early end to a season, Dave.
Ischgl - why so few Brits/Irish?

DougR wrote:We were there in Feb and there were loads of Brits. We stayed in Galtur (10 mins bus ride up the valley) where the hotels are much cheaper. We found Ischgl to be a fantastic ski area, but expensive. Would go back though (and stay in Galtur again) as we really enjoyed it. Crystal do packages to Ischgl and Galtur which are pretty reasonable and in our experience cheaper than booking it yourself as transfers etc are included.
I can only assume lack of Brits was due to being fairly late in season. Strange though as it's a high resort, so not like there was going to be a problem with snow. There are some amazing runs, but some areas are very prone to wind conditions which can close lifts and thus close many runs.
Beginners beware of the home runs though, they are steep and in many other resorts would maybe be classed as Black.

The middle of March is not 'fairly late in the season' - it's the very best part of the season to go in my view!!

Very tempted by Ischgl and thanks for the detailed and interesting report on the other thread.
Inner Arosa, smaller, more picturesque, closer to the lifts/slopes.

Arosa, bigger, more hotels, bars, restaurants, railway station, big lake, sports centre, facilities. (I prefer it to be honest!)

I can also testify that it started snowing at 9am Saturday morning and dumped big time over night, as the resort have kindly emailed me this morning with photos of the half metre of fresh powder that they now have.

Great week for those just gone, and a massive irritation for those just come back, myself included.

You haven't had the best of luck this season, Tone.
Little more irritating than the weather changing as soon as you get home.
Personally, enjoying the webcams with heavy snow falling and very cold in Saas Fee!
Arosa; two-and-a-half hours on the train direct from the railway station in Zurich airport (not a great drive, but the railway journey is wonderfully scenic for the last hour). Family friendly resort, predominantly intermediate and beginner pistes, easy lift access from the village. Ice skating rink and sledging, horse drawn cart rides etc etc. Ticks a lot of your boxes.
Well, that's it for this season.
