Maybe not. I'd use the word "thickness" rather than quality. Mainly because my outer wear isn't insulated as I don't like the feel of thick jackets, so I only wear a wind and water proof outer layer.

Definitely not thickness...my warmest jacket is the thinest. Come to think of it my most warm and comfortable salo's are too.

I don't, I think people do though.

andyoneil wrote:I must have some sort of internal heating engine as I never ski in anything under my jacket bar a T-Shirt/Base layer (alright -20 in Vermont meant a jumper/sweatshirt/fleece on some days)

Bottom wise I have NEVER worn anything under my sallopettes and I'm often too warm in them anyway.
Crikey, thats not normal.
I do get too hot sometimes if its around 0c, but generally myself and those I ski with always wear base layer, microfleece and jacket. Thermals under top and bottom if its particularly cold.
I've tried those wool base layers and they itch like hell.

I very rarely wear thermals under my salopettes...Just knickers and socks! In cold weather I wear a long sleeved base layer under my jacket with a T shirt over the top. In very, very cold weather I wear a microfleece too.

I guess what you wear on the inside depends a lot on the quality of the outer wear.

:hunf: Tim has just said it also depends on how fat you are. ...I sense a long list of DIY jobs developing for today!!! Bl**dy cheek!
Just got me a bargain...

Not me! Lol

Have you heard the saying 'All the Gear no idea' ?

Well some people (often those who have more money than sense) spend loads kitting themselves out for their first skiing holiday only to find that they hate it.

They don't go again so they sell their gear! Yay for ebay

:D :D :D

Anyone else had any good ebay bargains lately?
Thats a bargain. Well made ski gear, personally I'm not keen on their designs, but very good quality.
Haven't found anything I want on Ebay recently, I'm still after a particular red jacket.

Agreed, I have Degre 7 salopettes too, they are so well made. They are my favourites.

What's particular about the jacket your after? I'll keep a look out.

I would prefer to dump everything in the flat and go skiing, but I guess you're right considering the lifts won't be running. They did, however open early last year.

Oh for goodness sake !!!
Children and Christmas spring to mind

Now you've reminded me of another reason to worry about lack of snow. My son will be coming to stay for Christmas and New Year. We also have friends that have booked for the two weeks prior to that...Oooh I have a head ache now, with all this worry!
