Being a soppy watsit I particularly like the cat photos.
Our cats both love the snow, it is fun following where they have been overnight ..... |

Across the French Alps at least.
Lovely dump overnight (and continuing) in Courchevel where I will be on Sunday - woohoo  A shot earlier this morning from the Signal webcam of someone coming round off the lift and snow up to top of boots. http://livecam.courchevel.com/index.php?webcam=2&langue=2 Whats it like elswhere in the Alps? And the best news, it's not snowing in Norfolk and none forecast so Stansted flight should be fine. :D |

Now that is a creative solution, and probably better conditions than North of the Border. |

No one has mentioned silk liner gloves!
When the temperature drops a pair of these under good gloves makes such a difference. I like to keep the extremities warm, hence gloves, good socks (dry boots as has been said), hat (vital, no hair for me!!) and a neck warmer thingy I can dip mt chin into. |

Go for it Auscaz!
Cross country is a bit like wandering around in the countryside - you can stroll and look and enjoy the peace and beauty or run a marathon, looking for your personal best. It really is whatever suites you. I used to cross country ski to avoid the crowds when resorts were busy, a lovely way to get away from people in the main. I suggest you give it a go - worth an hours lesson just for the basic steps, it is not quite like walking on skis! |

Henski - you could probably pull your basic holiday in under budget but not after lift passes, lessons, ski and boot hire - let alone funds for "the party" are added on, sorry.
Maybe someone else will have a great idea? |
