One pair of saloppettes/ski trousers will be absolutely fine.
Goggles and glasses in my view, although if only one then goggles first. You can ski in bright sunshine in goggles, glasses are next to useless in poor visibility/white out. Bought my son a dare2be outfit this year (full size adult) including base layers, gloves and beanie. Really impressed with quality, especially for the price. Everything survived the week and gloves were jolly good in cold conditions (and fully waterproof). Hope this helps - enjoy !! |

Sarah,
All they are trying to do is to keep the snow from ski boots and apres ski boots outside where it belongs. Anything comfortable to wear is OK as long as you have an inside only pair of shoes. I tend to wear a comfy pair of casual shoes, my wife her slippers. Just back from a week with Total, first time with them, in one of their chalet hotels and I was very impresed. Have a good one. :) |

IMHO Wanderer will have no problems with the cold - whatever it goes down to.
For the simple reason there is already awareness and questionning. And hence caution, reason and taking precautions will happen. It is those who think that skiing high in cold weather is safe and friendly and .......... who have the problems. I got frost nip on my cheek once, as it thawed it was the most excruciating pain I think I have ever experienced! My error was to ski a long vertical drop without stopping just to get to where I had to go as quickly as possible and get in the warm. |

My personal view on this is not to buy boots until feet have stoppped growing.
One reason is money, so if the nag factor from the child is high and the expense is OK then viewing new boots as a present with limited life expectency will get plenty of thanks. Also childrens feet can change amazingly rapidly. Have had this with Rugby boots for my son where in a growing spurt a new pair in September are too tight by Christmas, nightmare with expensive ski boots bought before Christmas and too small by easter. We have spoken for the first time about his own ski boots with my son this year, his feet (size 14 now !!) look like they have peaked and if this is the case then we will be looking for his own for next year. As an alternative how about meeting the normal teenage need for nice stuff by buying lots of accesories? Quite often its about feeling good and enjoying the kit rather than any practical benefit of their own skis/boots that's important. |

Totally agree with what bandit wrote - pretty much any shape foot/leg can be readily fitted by a good technician.
But ... I do wonder if one of the issues with a learner is not readily understanding what a well fitting boot for skiing should feel like? For me it was trial and error, and pain, and poorly fitting hire boots, and I must admit silly purchase of first boots. Unfortunately I don't have any words of wisdom as to what good boots should feel like! Does anyone else? I do remember an instructor being horified as to how loose my boots were once, when I thought they were really tight and having just come back from skiing with my 16yo son when something similar happened. He said his ankle was hurting, were his boots too tight? I checked and did all the clips up two notches, he was amazed how better they fitted (I was amazed I'd been allowed to interfere). I think it is a really difficult thing - purchasing first ski boots, but good boots make so much difference, more than skis in mhi |

Tony - stop it !!
I have chosen to believe the BBC as the most optimistic weather forecast and with that one Stansted should be OK over the weekend. Fingers crossed for Gatwick/Heathrow etc. especially for Saturday departures. |
