Ally,
You're talking to someone who skis at Easter so slush on lower slopes is my surface! Samoens is a village at 700m. The skiing starts at Samoens 1600m. You have to get a gondola to the slopes. So, the skiing would get no more slushy than anywhere else at that height at the time of the year and you have acces to 265 km of skiing including Flaine(open and high) and Les Carroz and Morillon, more sheltered and better scenery. It's worth a consideration I'm sure. Though I think it's rather a long way away for me to say if I'd be going! |

If I had to choose and it was between say Flaine and Samoens I would choose Samoens.
Same ski area, totally different places. This year we went to Les Houches, nothing there. Few shops, no atmosphere in village. Admittedly late in season, but we've been to S at same time and it's been really buzzing. We like to take something home for the house, but there was nothing in LH except the usual keyrings and penknifes. Of course if you want ski in, ski out you won't get that in S, but I would choose a village with a great ski area and a heart for a 'holiday'. |

The lift passes are the stinger.
We were lucky this year. Got family lift passes in Les Houches and they include children up to 18 years old. And you only pay for one child, all additional are free. Up to three, I think it was. In the rest of the area same applies, but age is lower, but we saved a lot like that. |
