Good try, but unless the words Edinburgh and Denver are offered, snow use.

I ski Westendorf every year on day trips out from Niederau. It is pretty snowsure, and the lift company lays on a good machine base.
Here are the March snow depths for the past three seasons, Lower/Upper slopes: 69cm / 140cm 22cm / 53cm 40cm / 64cm |

Regarding the route/time/toll issue, it is of no consequence how many times I have done this route, I still use the AA Route Planner. You are given the option to choose the route with/without tolls.
Using toll roads 653.3 miles. 9hrs 42min. Avoiding toll roads 652.2 miles. 9hrs 51min. Year on year, there are road improvements and changes, so what I did some years back is irrelevant. Using the above data, toll road avoidance does look the favourite. I think I can recall the approximate ages of your children, from 2/3years ago, and my guess is they will cope well. On this basis, I would plan in a 20min stop every 2 hours, plus a driver change, and one longer mealstop. This indicates a total time of under 12 hours. It might be worth considering arriving in Dunkirk in the evening, driving through the night, when the kids will sleep, arriving early morning. |

I have done a fair amount of trogging up UK mountains, carrying skis, and looking dedicated, BUT ~ Helen Rennie has just completed 70 consecutive months of skiing on Cairngorm.
Yes, I know the skiing is limited on some months, but it is a wonderful tale of a committed ski moutaineer. http://www.pressreader.com/uk/the-press-and-journal-aberdeen/20150817/281788512796269/TextView |

Good news about the drones. That should make our Colorado visit more pleasant this winter.
Yet to figure out how to fire up the mobile in the USA. |
