Northern Lights.........
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 18 Replies
I remember watching a programme just before Christmas in which Joanna Lumley went to Norway in search of the Northern Lights - apparently it had been a childhood dream of hers after seeing an illustration of the Southern Lights in a book about a penguin.

The footage was spectacular, though I'm sure even this didn't do it justice. I'd love to be able to see them for real.

vampyre wrote:Still no snow in Sunderland, had some at the start of last week but didn't last. Been below freezing most nights so bit of ice during the day, but no deep white stuff up this end of the country. More's the pity - you seen OUR dry slope...

Pitiful compared to Sheffield, but better than nothing, and taught me the basics back in 1991...

:-o

That photo brings back memories - my first time on skis was on the nursery slope on the right of the picture, March 2007. :D

Just reading this is making me hungry!!

Looking forward to the remains of last night's roast chicken in a sandwich with rocket and mayo for my lunch, though sadly the chocolate fudge pudding didn't survive beyond 8pm last night. )

And for perfect Yorkshires, it's got to be beef dripping in the tins - loads more calories than oil but they taste so much better. :D

I'm meant to be writing a thesis plan for a meeting with my boss tomorrow but got easily sidetracked reading posts on here instead.

We had a good covering on Monday (enough to stop me getting into work) but it had all gone by Tuesday morning.
I was gutted as I was all set to get my skis out on Tuesday (and we have a couple of decent hills I was longing to try). :(

Very tempted to give it a go on Sunday, 'though not sure if my Ford Fiesta will cope if the roads are a bit iffy. :D

I'll maybe keep an eye on the weather forecast before making a decision.

I also spotted 4 guys on skis in cow suits, complete with udders, tails and floppy ears but they were too quick for me to get a photo :D
