We are flying to Turin with Thompson in January and our ski carriage is costing us £30 each (as they said even with a double ski bag we would have to pay two sets of carriage!) When we first checked the prices on their website the number quoted was £15 each, in line with other companies as everyone has said.
However, by the time we decided to book, the price of everything from flights and accommodation to ski school had rocketed so the holiday is now costing us about £400 more than it would have done if we’d booked a day earlier (why the price should rise by this much overnight I’ve no idea…) Needless to say we weren’t happy about this, but booking things directly or with another operator worked out to be even more expensive so we didn’t really have much choice. |

I’m trying to tick off another item on the shopping list for this year and was hoping someone could help…
I’m looking to buy a double ski bag with wheels (ideally with a bit of extra space for clothing etc.) however this is proving extremely difficult to find (I think I’ve come across two in all the searches I’ve done.) Just wondered if someone could either recommend a particular bag or point me in the direction of a relevant website. I don’t really want to go down the route of an over shoulder bag as I’m likely to knock someone unconscious when I turn round! Thanks Lynn ) |

I’ve just noticed the topic ‘Prescription skiing glasses help…anyone…’ below yours, which discusses the sunglasses (Evil Eye, not Eagle ) in more detail and they seem to be quite popular. There also seem to be other options as well :D

Hi,
My husband also wears glasses and there seem to be plenty of goggles on the market to go over them, which I’m told are pretty comfortable and needn’t be expensive (I think we paid around £20.) What he finds even better though, are his ‘sunglasses.’ They are Adidas Eagle Eye (or something like that!) and come with a selection of lenses so you can easily (and quickly) change them to suit the light conditions (from very dark down to yellow or even clear.) They wrap round to protect your eyes and have a set of prescription lenses which clip inside. For most conditions he found these to be better than goggles however they were quite expensive at around £200. On the plus side though, they are also great just as a normal pair of sunglasses and are useful if you need prescription goggles/glasses for other sports (such as mountain biking.) Also, if your prescription changes, you just change the clip in part, rather than the whole pair of glasses. Hope this helps – don’t be put off as I’m sure there will be a solution to suit you (and many, many people who can offer better advice than a novice like me.) :D Lynn |

Never watched the original and only discovered the new one by accident when channel flicking. Really enjoyed it (and love the theme tune) but a bit more actual skiing wouldn’t go a miss for next year.
(Definite plus is that Graham and Ed are much better looking than David Vine or the Top Gear Team…) |

Tempting as exploring new areas sounds, I think from what you’ve said I may be pushing things a bit far with VT, for this year at least. Saying that, if the conditions on the Milky Way aren’t great (which seems to be the case a lot of the time) I may just give it a go!
However, I’ve also got my OH to consider (as I’m not wandering off on my own, well, not yet at least!) I see something that little bit steeper as a challenge and a chance to improve, however he surprisingly seems happier cruising down runs with a slightly more gentle gradient (even though IMO he is the better skier of the two of us, technique wise at least – not that I’d ever tell him that of course!) I just hope finding a happy medium is not going to be too tricky as I want to make sure we both enjoy it… :D |

Generally find Husband 1.0 to be fully compatible with most ski packages and also (as importantly) Horse 5.6.
However, if I attempt to run ski packages too often, the error message err//lack_of finances: appears. Occasionally the virus scanner also detects Work 5.6 and refuses to run ski packages until this is deleted, or Holidays 2.0 installed. Also, if I try to run Horse 5.6 (or Out with Friends 3.7) at the same time as Food 3.0, then errors occur and Husband 1.0 reverts to earlier software Grumpy Silence 2.5 (as noted by other users.) The Beer 6.1 application is an effective way to rectify the problem (as are Playstation 3.0, and Football 5.0), however these require close monitoring as appear to be incapable of running Conversation 10.1 in the background. These problems (including those mentioned above) appear to be effective across the entire Husband operating system however slight variances are common depending upon the exact version. Sorry, couldn’t resist replying to this – should probably go and do something ‘constructive’ instead… :D |
