Hi Again,
Just ahd another throught......how about your socks, once you have them pulled up do you turn the tops over?, if you have thickish socks this may cause the calfs to ache in some cases as in effect you have an extra layer of sock over the calf muscle constricting the muscle slightly....and if they start to roll down could become uncomfortable.....but this is quite a long shot i think, but thought i would give it a punt. All the best jon. |

Hi,
I think another consideration is when you go on your trip as much as where, Les Arcs again is a large resort in it's own right, and now linked with La Plagne one of the largest ares in the world ( Paradiski, but i find many people who ski both resorts combined stay in one or other of the areas and only use the lift pass that gives a single day in the other). Les Arcs still has not reached the point of say Val D'Isere or Tignes where they have been developed to such an extent that the pistes can be extremely crowded at times ( the last run down from the top of the Toviere chair at the end of the day springs to mind)...again picking the right week is as much of a consideration i find the picture below was of the run down into Arc 1600 during the first week of April this year....
And this was about as busy as it got all week, i usually go the very last week of the season and some years it's almost as if you have your own private ski area  . jon. |

:DHi,
I must admit i'm a bit biased on the Les Arcs side as it's my neck of the woods so too speak, La Plagne ,La Rosiere and Ste-Foy are all excellent ( Ste-Foy is best enjoyed if you have a car to try some of the other resorts in the area i think though, as it only has a relatively small ski area....although excellent for it's size). Serre Chevaliere might also be worth a look, again its an excellent ski area with an attractive authentic feel about the town and is also a goo gateway to skiing in Italy for a day by travelling to Montgenevre and skiing over into Claviere in Italy. Val and Tignes are also excellent resorts although now to being slghtly overdeveloped they have lost some of their charm and would be best visited during the low season weeks to avoid the crowds. Hi,
I have a pair of Technica Icons which i have had for a few years and must admit they are like a pair of snug slippers, best boots i have ever owned, so it may be a case of either an obstruction or lump in the lining ,having the bindings done up slightly too tight or slightly bad posture(sorry about the last one but not quite sure how to phrase it :(). I'm sure if you take them back and get the fitters to check again they will only be too glad to help.....i would think the feeling of cramps goes when skiing is because the blood is pumping around the legs more and not letting the calf muscle get scrunched up by the constant movement.....but not being a doctor i may be wildly off on that score. I'm sure it's nothing too bad that cant be sorted out , the boots are the most important piece of kit really, if they don't feel right it wont matter how good the ski's are. All the best jon. |
