What a shame you cannot go a month earlier!
I'm sure an opportunity to get to one of the big European stations doesn't happen every year and whilst there will be skiing and good snow higher up all resorts will be loosing the snow on their lower runs. Conditions will be much better in March and you would be able to appreciate one of the big ski areas (and there are loads across the European Alps). No chance you could get over a month earlier? |

Sleeping with them ....
Taking a picture for your wallet, on your phone ... Naming them .... Holding them .... That's all OK  |

Sounds like a good day Snapzz. Here's my two penorth, for what it's worth and I will say up front that I don't categorise myself as an expert on ski hardware - but I have skied a huge number of different skis! I think you experienced exactly what those three skis are supposed to do. Smoke's - a nice gentle imtermediate ski. Better than a general beginners hire ski and would probably be a reasonable choice (cheeper than the others?) K2 - a technical ski, not very forgiving, will catch an edge if your not careful. Blackeye - an expert all mountain ski that is quite forgiving. Which sounds pretty much what you experienced. |

I found the 85 superb on spring conditions (ice to slush with a little fresh stuff thrown in). A little twitchy on hard pistes when going fast - but I would say I was just going too fast for the skis/conditions. Brilliant in slush and surprisingly easy on the bumps too. |

Nice one Snapzzz - enjoy the excitement of choosing your skis.
May I suggest a couple of thoughts. Consider an all mountain ski as well as a piste ski. Check from the manufacturers gumph their suggestions, I've seen things like 80% on piste 20% off piste. I skied Dynastar Legend Sultan and they held really well on biolerplate ice as well as being great in spring slush and light powder. Consider notionally "better" skis - something to grow into. In my view pure piste skis have the edge when going quite fast, they are far more stable than all mountain. But for people of a certain age (!!!) ability to control whatever the slopes throw at us tops that stability in my view. Look for something that will help your skiing growth as you progress to steeper slopes, bumps, powder, crud, slush etc etc Hope you have a good day tomorrow - do report back  |

Mind you, this cam has been "under maintenance" since march 2011.
