Socks!

I found these people last year when looking for size 13 socks for my little boy
http://www.specialistsocks.co.uk/
Phoned them and they were very helpful in telling me which would be best etc.
Bought myself some new ones as well, just because .....
No idea what brand but they have left and right on them
Never had socks that are foot specific before.
Skiing in the christmas period

You'll have a great time !!
Lots of early season vibe, xmas extras and you will have snow and good skiing (unless this season is an absolute disaster!)
By the time you are going 2/3 of the resort at least should be open, maybe more.
It might be cold, it might not - but the days will be short and getting dark by 4.00pm, so early starts are in order.
I love early season skiing, locals, staff, everyone has the freshness that gets jaded by the end of the season when people are a bit tired and getting fed up - in my experience anyway.

Winter sports insurance

I have renewed with Direct Travel again this year - been with them for ages, never made a claim (!!) but they have always offered what I need at a comptetitive price, including some very odd cover such as driving across Africa (unescorted).
When I got my renewal docs through I was perplexed, everything seemed to have changed but I phoned and had a chat.
What they have done is to break down their policies so that customers pay for what they need.
I only need the standard policy now (always had premium before) and then an extra for skiing (£25 for two) and they then added a bit for a medical condition (£17) .....
All came out at about £7 more than last year on an annual multi-trip.
I reckon their approach is a good one, especially for experienced travellers who know what they want. They seem to be trying to taylor things to individuals rather than one size fits all.
On the 17 days in total rather than 17 days per trip - I was told I could add extra skiing cover if I needed to.
