Easy Dave, you'll get one starred if you are not careful.

I deem that as permission to go ahead and create a thread called "n" Tony, ever so grateful. :D
EHIC - Do we need one?

Should you require to been seen by a doctor, you will be asked for your EHIC. This will be used to create a medical record on the computer system.

The EHIC will cover you for medical services that members of the country that you are visiting normally receive.

Everyone should carry their EHIC in their wallet, along with your ski insurance card/details and the telephone number of the lift company in the area that you are visiting.

bandit wrote:Hmmmm, I slipped and twisted my good knee crossing the road in resort back in December  It felt like the onset of a season long weaknesses at the time, and I was only 3 days in

I hope you are okay Dave

Thank you Bandit, and Ally. I have been blasting it all day, through a stormy blizzard, with no viz, and the knee is up like a football, nothing that a couple of Ibruprofen will not resolve. Must have an easier day tomorrow, (some hope!) Going to Westendorf with a couple of oldie schileurers on Wednesday.

It is dumping snow still, what a fantastic season.

Have finally got some movie stuff organised, including the one I wanted to do, which was a complete run down the mountain. It is much slower than what I had hoped for, but I ended up doing it Graham Bell style, holding two sticks in one hand.

Now, all I have to do is get You Tube organised, not done anything on YT before. And I had better start another thread to show it on, this thread is about falling. Now what can I call it, I'm not allowed to say the word "Niederau"....damn, sorry Tony, that just slipped out. :D

I'm not sure I agree Ian, especially when a posting is clearly innoffensive. I know that Trencher, TonyH and myself have been downstarred on a number of occasions, and there may well be others.

I don't think it does any harm to highlight idiocy now and again. If it makes the culprits see some sense, well and good.

Ah well, the sun is up, we have fresh snow, gotta think about making tracks. :-)

Trencher wrote:Feel sad for the person who doesn't know enough to say what they think is wrong with what someone says, but knows enough to hit the rating button. Must be very frustrating for them

Trencher

That is such a dumb action. I re-read right through all the posts, and there was nothing in the least bit offensive. If anything, it was a progressive, enquiring & technical discourse.

Yesterday, I reported the same down-rating activity to a couple of my postings, on another thread. Ally agreed that there was nothing offensive then either.

Sad people.

There are some good evening spots, but I have to say that this year there was less entertainment than in previous years. I might go again.

This seems a reasonably kind posting, I would have thought. I wonder then, why it got one starred?

It couldn't be.......surely not!

Dave,
I can't see anything wrong with your post, or anything anyone could object to. In general I have noticed that my posts seem to be graded according to the percentage of wibble (or non snow sports related content) they contain. But you usually wibble very little, so there must be another reason.

I have also noticed that no-one ever owns up to being the one starrer - but I can assure you that it wasn't me, because I don't grade people on their posts.

Also, I don't think Johnny said he'd bought a place in Niederau without seeing it, but without ski-ing it, although I went to an auction once to buy a house and it was amazing the number of people there who bought properties without having seen them

Ally

Thanks Ally. I could not see the value in one starring a kind posting. There are a small number of regulars who seem to hate Niederau, one of whom has never been to Austria, and one who used to give me a lot of abuse, but now, thankfully, seems to have desisted.

Like you, I do not one star people. Most times, poor and abusive postings stand out, and make the poster look like an idiot, and so starring such comments are unnecessary. I do like to five star good posts, and the two people I have five starred the most are TonyH and Trencher.

Neither do I make adverse comments about resorts, except where there might be poor mountain service, lousy architecture, a dangerous ski link up, or inordinately high costs. These are always identified as specific issues, and not a slagging off of a resort, just for the sake of it.
Interestingly, when I introduced the "Being kind on J2ski" post, I was one starred on it!

Buggeroo, what a co-incidence. I hardly ever fall. But for the past 2 weeks, have been skiing with my mate, who came over from New Zealand for a re-union. Then he went and skied across the front of me, and I crossed the back of his skis. He went a big purler, I went a little one.
And then today, I was off piste down an awkward "must turn" type run, took an odd fall, and ended up wrenching the bad knee.
Sh*t happens.
