Jan
I put some questions in another thread..... Thanks |

Ok.
Can one of the many Niederau officianados on here please answer a few questions for me? Reason for asking is that I've just looked at Jan's photos and it looks glorious. I've previously perhaps been a little dismissive of the resort, but so many of you speak so highly of it that I thought I may consider it as one for the future. 1. For a "low" ski area, what is the snow-reliability like? 2. Is there much skiing there for decent skiers? 3. How far away is Kitzbuhel and is there an easy connection? 4. Is there much reasonably-priced accomodation? Thank you very much and apologies if these points have been covered before, but I can't be bothered to trawl through!! Skidaddle. |

My GF did that in Kaprun a few years back. I was with her in the shop and the boot fitter and I were trying to convince her that they weren't ever going to feel like slippers, when he and I noticed she had them on the wrong feet. A knowing glance and smile between the two of us eventually gave way to laughter and he eventually said something on the lines of "Maybe if you try them on the correct feet, we can all go home tonight!" She denies it to this day, of course. |

They will measure your feet. Make sure you have your ski socks with you. Advice will be given as to how the boot should feel undone and with clips lightly tightened. If you are happy with them then take them, but if the next day they hurt, rub or feel too big/small go back and at least discuss it. You're perfectly entitled to do so because you can't ski properly with ill-fitting boots and YOU ARE PAYING FOR THEM AND THE SERVICE THAT GOES WITH THEM. (Not shouting - just emphasising my point :-)) |

For me, boot fit is crucial to the whole thing.
Yes, make sure you get the right type of ski too, but I can't emphasise enough the importance of getting the boots right. If this means the techie gets fed up with you asking to try different pairs, until you are happy, then so-be-it. Having said that, he can only be expected to do his job properly if he's given the right feed-back, so its very much a two-way thing. |
