Soldeu - Rubbish

Brucie wrote:I'm just back from spending 3 months in Soldeu, Andorra. Really glad to be home, like Tony H I cant understand why anyone would ever consider going to Andorra when there are so many other good resorts around.

The ski-ing was poor, the snow was rubbish and no pisting is ever done, especially on the front runs which I had to ski first thing in the morning most days. The pistes are exceptionally busy, I had to queue once during Spanish Carnaval week!!!!!

The restaurants in town are also poor especially the Bruxelles which charges 12 Euros for a 3 course meal including steak.

The people in town, locals and instructors are not very welcoming and are never seen in the pubs in the town.

There is never any music on in any of the pubs, particularly The Harp which has no atmosphere whatsoever and is always busy for some reason.

The pubs also charge ridiculous prices for beer compared to France, and the skiing equipment is also ridiculously priced, should anyone wish to buy skis or boots.

In short, DONT go to Soldeu, you wont enjoy it!!

Stick to France, Austria, Italy et al

 message received, I know just what you mean! ;-)

It is very warm now and it rained yesterday so skiing lower down was getting very slushy also quite heavy further up. There is still plenty of cover and the temps have dropped over night. The forecast is for more rain down in the village but about 20 cms of snow higher up.

I love this time of year - There's a very good end of season atmosphere here, skiing in T shirts, bbq's on the go all around, live music outside and friends and parties and making plans.

I skied from 10.30am until 4.45 yesterday. I started the day with an overwhelming urge to get a good work out. My friend waited for me while I skied the Swiss Wall and then we decided to ski all the blacks in Avoriaz amongst other things. The last run home was excruciating because we were so worn out (everything seemed more of an effort in soft heavy snow) but it was a brilliant day, every ski day is a brilliant day...I don't want to go home :-(

Congestion charge being introduced for non residents in Morzine town center.

It made me smile.

I always thought that park skis had a different material on the base but i was wrong. They are just the same aren't they?
I assume they wear out so much quicker though.

I couldn't help noticing someone at a bus stop a few weeks ago with one of his skis broken cleanly in half. I wondered if he had been messing around in the park!

How do you know I am not in my sixties?

Don't care how old you are or look, why should the 'to cool for school brigade' stop anyone from having fun!
