Down to 6 sleeps, husband has made excellent recovery clips came out a week ago and suture line already starting to fade. He did not have any post op complication and the only discomfort was from the clips which eased the minute they came out. We had a session at the Chill Factor yesterday and we managed two and a half hr session without any problem. He says he is only going to ski gentle slopes and i am sure if there are even the slightest problem or worry he will call it a day.

Well maybe its not the brightest thing to do, but he will always have the option of packing in if he is not up to it. Have discussed and he says not cancelling. I am pretty sure that if he is only capable of the softest run that is what he will stick to, and at the end of the day apart from the usual risk of any type of injury probably the worst that can happen is that it pops out again.

Hi, thanks for all replies and good wishes, husband is making a good recovery but we have so looked forward to our ski fix he wants to have a go. I dont think he will be silly and if he finds it difficult he has valliantly said he will sit it out. We still have 3 weeks to go and only time will tell, although we have only been skiing for a short time (this will be our 3rd time) the thought of cancelling -cant bear to think about it. if it doesn't work out it will be a tough one.

only 22 more sleeps to go, nearly didn't make it. husband developed an inguinal hernia, in agony and seriously incapacitated :(, consultant listed him for surgery 8th march. As we are due to go 13th March we had to do something drastic, presented at a/e and he was operated on yesterday clips come out next Sat and we just hope he heals well.

zobo we had a great time at this hotel, its comfortable, warm and welcoming, its was good having the use of the pool and sauna after skiing. the hotel is about a 6-7min walk to the slopes and we were able to leave our skis and boots at the hire shop just to the side of the slope. meals were taken at allocated tables according to party size, breakfast is buffet style with a good choice of hot food, fruit, toast, coffee etc, dinner was chosen from a menu given out the evening before. we were in the red ski school which is rated well on this site. Rudi was my instructor and he made sure everyone had a good time and he had endless patience. towards the end of the week the instructors organise fun races (for a small fee) and every one who takes part gets a medal. The prizegiving is in the evening at hotel just up the road nearly everyone turns up and has a fantaststic time. We went at the end of March last year and it snowed most days it was like a winter wonderland. I,ve just counted how many sleeps 54!!! oh roll on. i hope this info helps have great time.

Thanks for that Innsbrucker and to everyone who replied, this is my fear as well. I will try to remember all the advice given. Inbetween watching dancing on ice i have been jumping up and practising positions and weight bearing, and pretending to ski down (slightly inclined) slope.
