I seem to recall that flying to Chambery was often an optional extra, often with a reduced luggage capacity, as it meant a quicker transfer to resort. Don't know if things have changed in recent years though.

Hi Wbrady757, you don't actually say when you are going, but given the current weather, everything may well have changed out there.

If you look at this google map of the end of the A7 near the Austrian border, you will see the lifts and slopes from many small resorts, suitable for a days skiing. I suggest your best option will be to look them up individually, and find the live conditions from local websites.

I think the reports on the news yesterday of the carnage and disruption to our own roads, caused by just a couple of centimetres of snow, should also demonstrate how unprepared most UK drivers are for changing conditions.
