I've just found out I have persimmon lenses
Amazing .... And there was me thinking they were orange. |

Been watching the webcams - very jealous.
To me goggles are vital and money should not be scrimped on these, far more important than sunglasses IMHO. I have Oakley with Orange lenses which I find very good in flat and low light. But ... I do think it is what works for you. I would get in the shop and try a load - look out the door to see what tint works for you, you'll get a good sense of the suitability by this. You'll certainly know which ones won't work. For some reason I don't see very well through grey lenses but my son has grey and they work for him - we have swapped to see what the difference is/was and I was quite surprised. |

It is usual for resorts to start by partially opening and then bring in more areas in the run up to Xmas.
Some of this depends on snow levels and particularly availability of snow at lower levels but there is also a practical element of how many people will want to ski. For example last year Courchevel "opened" something like the 5th/6th of December but the 1650 side wasn't opened until 2 weeks later. Also if there are 2 lifts that do pretty much the same job then only 1 will run in quieter periods. These factors can really affect how many lifts open and pistes open is showing on resort websites. Now - Espace Killy, Tignes and Val D'Isere - I have never seen them reporting all lifts open because they do shut some glacier lifts completely in the winter and, of course, the low lying lifts are only available in the winter. |

Earplugs for when the children and other passengers start whining "are we nearly there yet?"
 But more sensibly a couple of torches, one to be a good headlamp torch. |

I'd love to see this :D Can you imagine everyone passing through a weighing machine with all baggage!! Mind you in the days of "pay for what you take", which I have no argument against - "why should I subsidise those taking skis?" is the bottom line - it may well arrive. Seen this weighing everything at work in Africa on tiddly prop planes where seating is the issue to balance the plane. Seen the arguments as well as two rather large Americans had to sit at opposite sides of the plane rather than together or we would have been going sideways!! Happy days .... :D |

Interesting .... Nelly's question made me wonder what I had paid for so I went and looked at T's&C's where it said 23kg! Which, I admit, I thought was quite high being used to 20kg and even 15kg unless flying with a proper airline! |
