Pavel, that was funny :!: :D Thanks for the "laugh of the day". I'm glad it turned out as well as it did!
In my area I often get phone calls for others of the same name. There are 4 of us in the area. One is an accountant. I was on the chair lift with a girl of about 13 or 14 years old one day. She was with a school group and was quite talkative. This made for what became an interesting ride to the top. She went to school in my area and had a horse at a stable where my neighbour does as well. I asked her her name as I would tell my neighbour I had met her on this ski day. It turned out this girl and I have the same last name and when I told her my name was "Mike" she looked like she had seen a ghost :!: She said that was her father's name as well. I said "oh .. the accountant?" At which point she almost jumped off the chair! I continued to "freek-out" this child by telling her I often get phone calls for him. Not an embarassing moment -- but an interesting one. It is a small world! Mike  |

Why , thank you for that freezywater :D You're too kind :!: And now I'm really glad you're back  :D And I agree with both you and Dave (about the only ski site worth visiting). Actually it was Pavel who told me about J2Ski a couple of years ago and I think those were his words as well :!: He was really impressed with the people he found here. Your difference of opinion comment is very true also :!: And we need to be able to laugh at ourselves in order to survive this world. There's not much fun in being too serious. And if it isn't fun why bother? Mike  |

Now don't be like that julietP :!: You can go ahead and tell the others that you do admire me if you wish -- I'll try to contain myself  I'm sure the others won't hold it against you. (Must be my avatar. )) But seriously, in my mind J2Ski IS the # 1 ski site :!: Wherever there are people deeply interested in a subject there will be difference of opinion. Some people may take a difference of opinion personally but we look beyond that and learn what we can from all comments. You cannot "leave" because you would miss lots more than expansion of knowledge - you would miss the ever changing avatars, the news of how ellistine will make the UK Olympic Sailing team, you will miss first hand news of when souldrive makes it to even a greater musical level, you will miss the next Pavel Quiz ... right there is enough reason to stay tuned. Also missed will be the news of when Jan opens for the season. Just too much to miss out on ... And as you have read, you will be missed by all on this site. And isn't it the "rule" that no one can leave a ski site just before the season gets underway :!: :?: Mike  |

Count me in for that take on the original post too. We were to the Elton John show in Halifax last night so I'm thinking Rocket Man = Rocket Ski !! (CAUTION : OFF TOPIC COMMENTS FOLLOW) : Great show - bye the way :D He started at about 8:10 and went on to 10:50 without a break. It was his solo show -- just Elton and the keyboard (and lots of electronics) Here's a link to the local newspaper's slide show of last night:http://www.thechronicleherald.ca/Front/1081505.html Mike  |

Hi there souldrive... thought we had lost you
Glad you're back and with plans... :D I can't suggest any skiing for you in NS as it doesn't really get going here until early January - unless it is exceptionally cold. However, if the present trend continues, this may be the year for some late Novenber skiing here. There should be some wind shield frost scraping by Wednesday morning. Elton John is in Halifax this coming weekend for two shows - maybe he'll take our cold weather back to the UK with him. I thought you had been hiding somewhere with freezywaters - maybe cutting a new track somewhere. He just returned recently as well. Mike  |

Well done Caron, and congratulations :!:
Learning through a Pavel quiz is always such fun and when you are the winner it is even more fun :D Wearing a ski jacket from Pavel makes you ski better too. You will feel an almost obligation to expand your comfort zone - whatever that may presently be - and this leads to more confidence. More confidence leads to being more relaxed and thus better form and style. Remember this and tell us after a few days out if you didn't find this to be true. I'm betting you will. Mike  |
