Which field to go- first time to Austria
Started by User in Austria, 22 Replies
Though I take several trips to various places each season - I always take at least 1 or 2 to to Zell am See eavery year. I love the charm, the people and the skiing.

Great till you get to the airport and find that the flight time they advertise and you have booked for (and says on your confirmation) isn't actually the slot they have, it's about 25 mins earlier so therefore check-in is closed when you arrive well within the 40 minutes before the ADVERTISED & CONFIRMED time of flight.

Yet this is my problem and they can't help - despite misleading me. I got my money back after a long fight but they won't get near a penny again.

Easyjet on the other hand, I screwed up - I went to the wrong airport (Luton instead of Stanstead) for a flight to Glasgow. They put me on standby, got me on the flight as there was a no show and din't take a penny of me when I'd happily have paid any price as it was ME that had screwed up.

That's my personal experience anyway.

Hopefully Make it to St Anton in March 2010, but before that I'll be back in Zell twice before then (that makes it about the 13th/14th time).

It's not the most extensive or challenging, but with a lively group looking for a good time with a fair bit of milage and some interesting runs, huttes - and bars after, at a fair price - we've never been let down.

Anyone booked for next season yet?

I've been quiet on the forum but busy with the bookings, decided to have very much an Austrian season, Starting with 4 days in Kaprun in early December, a week in Zell am See in January followed by a few days in Bad Kleinkirchheim, then we go to a part of northeren Italy (which used to be Austria before WW1) in February. Still to decide on March, but will hopefully be back in Austria then to. Just got fed up with rip of French resorts and other than Switzerland (had a fantastic time in Flumserberg last December) nowhere else has tempted me yet....

Bit last minute I know but I've been without interweb since an electrical storm at start of week.

Anyone else from the forum heading out to Val d'Isere tomorrow for the DMSS end of season trip ??

The Niederau Experience

Dave Mac wrote:Back in Paradise, as I know it. Met up with Rustyinn, (Dave) and friend. Had a meal together, then repaired to the Bichlwirt. Herbert put in one of his great Harp performances. I have to confess, that RustyInn and I sang, accompanied by the Harp, "March of the Hebrew Slaves,(Nebucha)", in Italian! You heard it here first folks! (Unless, of course, you were in the Bichlwirt.)

And then, had the best part of the next day, skiing with Rusty Dave, a neat, competent and fast skier. Has got his skiing plan well sorted out. Good luck Rusty -Dave! Twas a very enjoyable meet up.

Have failed to meet up with SkiGirl. After a week in January, appoaching girls, asking - "Are you Paralytic?", I draw the line at trogging round Niederau, saying to the lassies- "I'm looking for a SkiGirl!" The Oberau police would be quickly into action!

And a good time was had by us both to Dave - thanks for adding an extra dimension to what had already been a very enoyable Niederau experience.

Fingers crossed that the temperature drops a bit and the snow falls frequently (at night) for you over the next few weeks.

Enjoy !
