It certainly is, we had one of the most memorable nights of the 2009 season when Dave Mac took us along one evening.

Certainly was one ski school - probably more. The one my friend used were very patient and helpful as she was a very nervous beginner but she came on leaps and bounds in the few days we were there.

I will certainly look this ski area up. It sounds like it could be just what I am looking for. Mid week trips will be the norm. Hopefully there is a ski school there also. As they say, never try to teach your own Wife to ski. It is just not worth the silent treatment on the way home in the car.

Appreciate the help.

Last year I had a couple of days spare and a cheap flight to Zurich so visited the Flumserberg ski area - it's only an hours drive south from the airport (which is on north side of Zurich).

Very easy areas to learn on (I had a complete beginner with me) along with some nice wide blues to progress to. Also some very entertaining reds and a black for the more experienced, they certainly kept me amused for a few days.

It was very much a 'weekend' resort - I think half of Zurich heads there when conditions are good but on the Monday & Tuesday the slopes were almost empty, obviously the pares is a very quiet during week as a result, but there was still some to be found and the locals were very friendly. Also while almost everone spke very good English, we as native English speakers were very much a rarity with an Aussie being the only other sould we found. But it really gave it that nice feel of actually being 'abroad'.

We were also able to get pretty good rates on hotel and equipment hire as we were there during week rather than weekend.

Anyway, hope that helps.

If you booked flights with BA BEFORE 31/7/09 then you are still entitled to free ski carriage and should receieve an email from BA confirming this to take with you to check in to ensure you are not surcharged.

If you did - and you havn't I'd chase BA.

OUCH! All that snow and stuck in the office - life's just not fair really.

Good luck with escaping later in the season anyway !
