Tony is right, if you only have a few days its great but if you can manage a week it is much better value.

Iceman hit the nail on the head with his points.
If somewhere I have been to is really really good Or really really bad I will post on TA about it. If its ok I won't bother. |

I am in Dublin so my prices are all in Euro.
I can get a flight for about €130 - €150 Transfer for about €50-€100 depending on numbers. If there is only two of you it is as cheap to rent a small car. I have managed half board in a basic two stars hotel in Morzine for €60 a night. La Tavern pub in Meribel do B€B for about €70 a night. The best Value I ever got was B€B in Les Deux Alpes for €30 a night. In March this year we went to Sauze and paid about €70 B€B in a hotel which was basic but did the job. You can pay as much ad you really want but with a bit of effort you can find som bargains. |

Hi Sm4sh,
It's very easy to do, I do it twice most years. Fly to Geneva and go to Morzine and to can ski by lunchtime as its only an hour Transfer Or fly to Grenoble and go to Alp d'Huez or Les Deux Alpes Or as already mentioned Sauze is great and close to Turin. However Adam67 is right about cost, it's usually as expensive as a cheap tour operator week. |

Cervina was ok. Great little town and some great Italian food but the skiing was only average. When we were there it was -15 to -20 most days and a few of the higher lifts we closed because of wind.
Most of the slopes were wide open easy reds but the skiing in Zermat is excellent if you can manage the link. It's ok for three or four days but there is far better resorts. |

Geneva is great for Morzine/Avoriaz and only an hour drive. Check the resort web site for hotels that will do short stay.
Meribel or La Tania in the 3 Valleys are about another hours drive away but there is short stay in both laces too. Grenoble is very close to Les Deux Alpes where there is plenty of short stay B&B'S accomodation and hotels. Or Alp'd Huez is another one but there is less short stay accomodation Munich and drive to St. Anton in Austria. Turin is very close to Sauze and the Milky Way. Milan Milpensa is within two hours of Cervina. I have skied all of theses places for 3/4/5 days and found accomodation easily enough. |

Wasley, unless there is a ski resort near Gatwick that I don't now about......
I need to know where is best for YOU TO FLY TO! |

The vast majority of my ski holidays have been short breaks and it is easy enough to do.
The first and most important question is....Where can you get the best flights to? I always try to get a very early or very late flight time so as to be on the slopes for a half day on the first or last day.give us a couple of airport options and I am sure that I and others here can give you some good ideas. |
