Hang on Trench ...... I really thought the colour was important due to the dynamic instability of certain colour blocks which interfere with the gravitational interface and resonance properties? Whilst this wasn't a problem with older style skis the modern multi compound and multi torsion construction means that certain of the colour combinations intefere with the dynamic camber properties. Isn't this true? This explains why test skis that companies produce are always white - inherently the colour of choice to minimise any conflict and allow a "true" ski. And also why the turquoise of the ancient Rossignol 4S has been resurrected by Salomon in the BBR (not possible before the merger of these two companies as Rossignol held the patent for this colour). You then need to bring in the style of the skier and link this to the colour of the ski. Now, I am happy to admit that this isn't an exact science, more of an art, but something that even the relative novice can get their head around. It cannot be coincidence that my favourite ski of the 1980's was the old Rossi 4S and of this decade the BBR - both turquoise! |

Our MW host couldn't manage a proper fall like that but he did get the week off to a good start ... About 10.00am first day, dribbling to a halt on a blue .... Turned at the side of the piste to look where we all were .... Fell over! |
