The OP asked about the standard of accomodation, and Ian's pointer to TA was pretty positive. I agree with Finn, that opinion ought to be fact based, not prejudiced for the sake of it. having looked at the background, I would go there. The snow record is very good, 2~3 metres at top level. The area is not big, but looks good mixed skiing. The old village atmosphere would certainly suit my needs, to find good painting subjects, and meet locals. If the ski school is anywhere near as good as Borovets, then that would be recomendable to my friends. I have a number of friends who are Inghams reps, and they see year on year moves forwards in Bulgaria.
What we should remember is that Bulgarians suffered horrendously when the Soviets states dissolved. Russia immediately cut off all major trade, and energy supplies. Not only have the Bulgarians responded with great spirit, they are as friendly as folk from any other place. |

Don't worry about the language, just keep watching. And when you post a comment, don't give the game away......

Remember the advice from Finn, after his drive-out last season. Finn suggested using neat screenwash. Nearly neat might be good enough. He used the recommended strengthy, and endured constantly stoppages to clean a streaky screen.

Top notch for enthusiastic and genuine love of skiing. Took a risk doing aerials wearing a kilt though.....

Contact your car insurer if you are thinking about fitting winter tyres!

I am wondering if, at the root of all this stramash, is a statement made by the Transport Secretary, Philip Hammond, to the effect that the use of winter tyres was "not appropriate". He intimated that winter tyres would damage roads, and cause potholes. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is our transport minister!
It is suspected that he was confusing winter and studded tyres. |

It is somewhat difficult from NI. The best Harfenwirt deal from Belfast City I can see, so far is £448. Add £208, total £656. I do not find any attraction in pursueing a Ryanair Dublin/Salzburg flight price of at leat £124. You can reduce by £59 pp, by staying at the Enzian, ie £389, total, £597.

Switzerland is more expensive than Austria, but not as expensive as France. Already there is more than a metre of snow at mountain level, across most of Austria, and !

It depends when you are going, and where from. A 6 day lift pass is 160 Eu. Ski hire is 48 EU, probably a bit cheaper through your J2 discount. Total 248Eu = £208.
Harfenwirt (3*) HB, 8 Jan is £338, total £546 Sonnschein (4*) HB, 8 Jan is £441, total £649 I would choose the Harfenwirt, because it is closer to the slope, 30m. I would conclude that for that dates, £747 is not a good deal, regardless of the departure airport. |
