rob123 wrote:Does anyone know of a good brand/shop who can do prescription sunglasses for skiing? I have a strong prescription, and my optician tells me Oakley don`t do a lense to suit my prescription. In the past i have just used my normal sunnies for skiing, but these are really not suitable. I need to get a decent pair or wrap arounds if possible. Any help appriciated....

Mu Hubby had this problem, his eyesight is worse than yours. He had the problem ski-ing and surfing. He solved it by switching to disposable contact lens and wearing what goggles or sun glasses he likes. The idea was to wear the lens just for these activities, but he is now wearing the lens more and more and his glasses just when his eyes are tired or has just got up.

A "teaser" for you (and I am sure Jan, Mike, perhaps Bandit will bite)!

How can you in 2 seconds KNOW that the skier beside you on this glorious powder day is a powder pro? (even before you put skis on or get to lift)

No it is not the skis!
No it is not the $1,500 North face Extreme powder suit!
No it is not the heliski patch on jacket!
No it is not the "I skied in Alaska, Utah, St. Anton,,,,,"

So what is that one thing that in 2 seconds you know he/she loves powder. Skis powder a lot. As it is written in the bible, "knows the flakes personally"!

He/she is the first one up the mountain

Pavelski and any-one else who have experienced this sort of thing, I envy you. I am not experienced or confident enough to do this, but hope to one day.
The closest thing for me was one year went to Austria, could not ski as I had already gone on holiday with broken ribs and was just too painful. Hubby and I got on the first funicular up the mountain, no one except the driver on it. Got to the top, no cafe open, no skiers, no music just bitter cold and tons of untouched snow. We sat on a bench on the edge, huddled up to-gether with the ham and cheese rolls saved from breakfast and had our own picnic with no-one else up the mountain.
Pure heaven, just wished I could have come back down on ski's.
